Filet Mignon at the local megamarket for $3.99lbs. I eat beef only occasionally but I couldn’t pass on that deal.

Oooohhhh, what time is dinner?

I’m serving the rest of my pulled pork ($1 lb) on fresh Amoroso rolls (it’s not bread if it’s not an Amoroso roll, Philly people will know what I mean)

I walked out with a pack of free batteries the other day. On sale for $1, I had a 1 dollar coupon.

LakeWashington, your name tells me you live somewhere nearby. Could you share your secret? Which store was it? H is meat-starved!

Bunsen, I USED TO LIVE NEARBY. Heh, heh. For many, many, years I’ve been trapped here on the East Coast with the ‘masters of the Universe.’ LOL. Oh Cedar River and Seward Park, how I miss you!!!

Bummer! I heard the East Coast was pummelled by bad weather again. So to keep H happy, I’ll have to go to the Costco Business store which sells meat in 10-20 lb pieces for about 30% cheaper than the pre-cut stuff. If you have never been to a Costco Business center and have one nearby, I recommend visiting it - it is an unforgettable experience. ;)

Bunsen, mom and dad still live in the Great Northwest and dad is a B-B-Q maniac who is a regular at the Costco meat department. Bon Appetit!

North Face Denali fleece jacket (men’s) for $82.50 at Steep and Cheap.

Got tanks for $4.99 at J. Crew outlet today. If you have one near you they have great markdowns on basics now.

Got an email with coupons from JCPenney. Their winter clearance is now 75% off plus they emailed 2 coupons ($10 off of a $50 purchase, or $15 off a $75 purchase). I ended up buying from the men’s department and got 4 shirts, 2 sweaters, one fleece jacket, and 2 pairs of leather gloves. The most that I paid for any item was $8.11! Even though they advertised 75% off original prices (before coupon), the leather gloves that I bought were marked down 80%. I got an additional discount with my coupon.

We went to two REI stores. The kids each both slacks for $9.82 (normally $30-$80). D bought a t-shirt at Old Navy for $2.49 and another for $10. I bought thermal underwear (washable wool) for about 1/2 to 1/3 of regular price. I also bought a pair of nylon slacks for under $20 (normally $40). H bought a wool jacket for 1/3 regular price. Love REI merchandise–good quality!

Everyone is still loving the Hickory Farms packages. They did NOT receive any info about me having sent them–no message on the box or note in the box. I don’t understand why there was so much confusion, but everyone is happy with the food anyway. The pears from Harry & David also arrived.

I felt like I was robbing Macy’s today - a beautiful white Ralph Lauren cashmere sweater for $34 (the label says $249 -). I thought for a couple of minutes, went back to the rack and bought a second one, a lilac one. By spending $70, I saved more than $400 - that’s what my receipt said

I need to find a good deal on cross-country skis, but not the stuff that is sold at big box sporting goods stores.

I’ve started visiting our local thrift stores more frequently. I’ve found some recent best sellers on their bookshelves for .99! And some were hardcovers! I also like to look through the children’s books - I can find paperbacks for my 6 yr. old for .25!

^^I always buy books at Goodwill.

I got good deals yesterday at Eddie Bauer Clearance + extra 40% off sale. Got jeans for me (reg. 69.99) for $18, also jeans for DH for $18, a winter coat (reg. $129) for $40, scarf/gloves set (reg. $50) for $10 …bought two sets, somebody will get them for Christmas next year !
They also had tanks for $3 and nice wool socks for $3 plus tons of various knit shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, etc. for both men and women.

My husband bought a used digital camera D70 with everything throwing in from his friend at work for 1/4 the price. His friend got a brand new digital camera and wanted to sell the old one.

Bunsen, I want them when you out grow them.

You see now that’s what I like about you, BunsenBurner. DH NEVER understands when I tell him you have to spend money to save money.

I have been buying books at the second hand shops and hospital shops for the past year and have gotten a number of new hardcover books for 99 cents. What a deal! Even better to sell them for $5 or less on Ebay if you have an account or know someone who will let you piggyback on his.

I take all my books to our used bookstore for credit and then “buy” all my books there. I haven’t paid them anything in about six months and they even let me get coffee with my credit ![]()
I feel bad but the owner says it is all good because I bring in such good stuff and they sell it to cash paying (tourist town) customers all the time.

Went to Banana Republic yesterday. For $40+, got 2 gorgeous 100% cotton sweaters and a pair of slacks. The sweaters were normally $70 apiece & slacks normally $90. Went back & bought two leather belts–one for $15 (normally $60) and one for $12 (normally $70–made in Italy). Could not believe the prices (though sizes & colors are limited) and am very happy as these will be great for travel to colder East Coast.

Macy’s had $110 cashmere sweaters for $40 & you could use any coupons you had (it made my eyes itch so would need to dry clean or do something before I could wear them).
