Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Couldnt get the amazon book code to work :(

I used the Amazon code with no problem. BOOKDEAL25

Yes thats the code. Didnt work for me even with a clear amazon purchase (not 3rd party vendor). Oh well

Macy’s has gone downhill fast. The downtown store is much messier than the Rack store across the street. The majority of their sales ladies are less than helpful, and quite often they hide. There is usually no good selection of sizes… But I just got a couple of pairs of AJ jeans in a hard to find size on sale from Macy’s online shop.

Nordstrom online was price matching Bobbi Brown yesterday - picked up a replacement moisturizer @ 10% off. Ulta doesn’t carry it, so their 20% discount won’t work (using that on perfume for the girls today).

I can’t shop at Macy’s unless I know exactly what I want, where it is, and there’s a substantial sale or coupon. The mess in all their stores, not just downtown, drives me crazy. I did make my way through yesterday to restock my Nespresso capsules. Happy home stuff is in a separate store at the mall.

It’s the clothes that are so disorganized at Macy’s. The home goods are fine.

But I flatly refuse to deal with the mess at Macy’s. There are plenty of other options. This has been a longstanding complaint…and they don’t seem to care!

Thanks for the Amazon book code. Worked for me and made me make the decision today :)

Nordstrom is price-matching many other beauty brands, including Clinique, YSL, Dior, etc. Got some gifts for the girls - 10% is not a lot, but this stuff never goes on sale!

We never buy anything at Macy’s that’s not on sale or with a discount coupon. Got a Nespresso Inissia coffeemaker today that will end up costing about $60 after all the incentives and discounts.

lizard, 1.67?
My reading glasses, I get at the dime store are stronger than that.
I don’t go to Macy’s either.
I did pick up a Kindle for $99.

I, too, was able to use the Amazon ā€œbookdeal25ā€ code tonight.
Then I went to DH’s account and used it to ship a book to DS’s address. It didn’t let me use it. Weird, how does it know that ā€œIā€ had already used the code?

Not sure if anyone would be interested. Soma has their underwear on sale 7 for $35. I found a code on retail me not for 20% off so that knocked off another $7 but I went through ebate for 5% rewards. So 7 pairs of panties for $28 and change.

That’s the index of refraction of the lenses, not the prescription strength.

My prescription is so strong that I get chromatic effects around the edges when I have tried high index lenses, so unfortunately I can’t use them. They are super thin and light though.

^ I’m next to blind. My right eye diopter is -9.00, left -11.50. The $31 glasses I just bought are working fine. With the thicker lenses, even in high index 1.67 lens, get a round lens in less than 50 mm width so glasses’ lenses don’t look too bad or thick. I use glasses in evening after I take out contacts I wear all day.

I’m about -7.5 diopters, but when I try the high index lenses, I get a band of yellow all the way across the top of each lense, and a band of cyan all the way across the bottom, even with lenses much smaller than 50 mm. And when I look at a computer monitor, the colors separate from the pixels (each pixel on your screen is composed of tiny red, blue, and green dots) except when I look dead center. It’s a pretty trippy effect, but not great when you sit in front of a computer all day like I do.

I’ve tried them twice and got the same results both times. They were gloriously thin and light though. Glad to hear they work for you!

So many ā€œdislikesā€ for Macy’s! I don’t know if I ā€œloveā€ the store, but they usually have what I’m looking for. I can’t remember the last time I paid full-price there for anything. I almost never find anything I like/that fits me at Nordstrom’s, except shoes. Even on sale I find their stuff overpriced. Quite a few years ago now I really liked the clothes at Lord & Taylor. Then they went all ā€œhigh fashionā€/less tailored and I pretty much stopped shopping there, except once in a while for dresses.

Ok. The lenses I just got are 46 mm in a Wayfarer type frame… Maybe you’ve been getting lenses that are too small? Your eye doctor can best help you sort out what’d be best for you.

I went to pick up a prescription that normally costs close to $90. I have a lousy prescription plan. Today’s price rang up as zero. No idea why but I’m certainly not arguing :-)

Going into Macys during holiday time is a bad experience. I prefer getting the deals online.
Another thing I learned is that sometimes the deals are better online. I went to the store and mentioned it to the sales person and they refused to match the online price. (19.99 online vs $37 at the store) The sales lady was not helpful and asked me to prove that the price was cheaper online in order for her to match it. What a hassle. The manager had to approve the matching of the stores own online price. I could have purchased online but didn’t want to make a $99 purchase to get free shipping. Not entering the store till after the holidays. Have always been happy with my online purchases though I have two Macy’s a mile away from home. The selection and size availability online is much better.

I got some good deals at Lord and Taylor especially when they were giving $20 off coupons on black Friday and Saturday. Got two pairs of Sperry shoes for $21 each.(Reg price $85)
