Oh, poor kiddo! Hope she gets better soon. Your Macy’s has nice stuff.
Re-purchased a dress that went down in price. Easy to buy non-returnable clothes you know will fit! I’m playing by the rules.

Have had my eye on Lenox holiday dishes for a while. Now that I’m hosting Christmas decided to go for it. Plates are normally $40 each. I needed about 36. On sale after Christmas at most places for $28. Found 24 second quality online for $15 each. Purchased but then drove to the outlet mall and saw they had a Lenox store. There they had the plates for $13 (but they rang up as $10) and had a sale where you bought 3 and got one free and the whole store was 25% off. Brought the price down to about $5.50 a plate. Called the online store from there and cancelled my order.
Bought 36 dinner plates, 12 salad plates, 8 mugs (all they had of salad and mugs) and four kids sets plus a couple of serving dishes for the same price I had paid for the 24 plates. Even my husband was happy.
Now you need to find a deal on a buffet to house the dishes!
Sounds like looking around paid off.
I know there’s a whole new thread about returns, but I had to share my return-of-the-day here. My son had a pair of LL Bean shoes that I bought for him a couple of years ago. He only started wearing them daily about a year ago and wore them all the time when he was doing his study abroad in Ireland last Spring. Anyway, the tread on both of them were just falling apart and I could tell that they would need replacing before winters end so we took them back today. I no longer had the receipt but without any proof at all, we got store credit for $50 - the lowest price they had sold for in the past year. I may have paid $20 more, but maybe not. I know I didn’t pay full price. That was nice. Now, knowing the return policy is like that, we bought another pair of shoes for slightly more then the price we found on-line in case the new ones have similar wear problems. Smart marketing LL Bean!
LLBean guarantees their shoes forever. And no receipt is ever needed. Their Maine Hunting Boot is also a winner for this reason.
I bought one a robe at Macys too. Good deal.
The price in the store was lower than any I could find online. I’m happy it brightened things a tad for our D. I think she’ll get a lot of use from it and she admitted that she discarded her old worn robe in her last move so is happy for a new one!
LL Bean also guarantees their slippers.
Wow - didn’t know about the boots/slippers at LLBean. S had a backpack from there that he used every single day - taking a beating. The handle at the top was starting to rip and we took it back. They gave him credit for the full amount since we had the receipt (50$). He immediately bought another one right there…
Did I already post how my sister returned my moms Le Creuset original orange pan? We expected them to charge an upgrade charge, as the pan was so old, but NO. They sent me a brand new pan, in orange.
I bought a Columbia sportswear ski jacket about 10+ years ago from Eastern Mountain Sportswear in Denver. I called Columbia because the coating on the jacket is shedding (it’s similiar to Goretex). I wanted to know if they had any recommendations on what I could do to preserve the jacket and make it stop shedding. They asked me to mail them the jacket and pick out a replacement jacket from their current catalog in my size, which they mailed to me–no receipt, nor any hassles. They have risen to the top of my list for outerwear companies.
Years ago my daughter’s puppy may have helped pull out the sheepskin lining of her LL Bean moccasins
She had worn them her last 2 years of college, and I believe this was her third year with them before the puppy got a hold of them. She lived in DC at the time, so took them to the store in Virginia. They replaced them on the spot even knowing that this was not all due to normal wear and tear.
When DD went into the Peace Corps, we got her a Goal Zero solar charger. The stinking thing never worked…battery didn’t hold charge. So we bought a second one and sent it over. It worked just fine. Since we purchased the first one from Amazon, goal zero would not take it back.
Well…A couple of weeks ago, we got mail from Goal Zero…a recall of the batteries. Both of our units are part of the recall. Guess what? Some didn’t hold a charge! DUH!
We will be getting two new batteroes from Goal Zero.
Now…we just will sell them on eBay!
I had a brand new relatively expensive jacket from llbean. I ruined it by rolling my suitcase wheels over it. I called them to ask if they had any idea how I could get it fixed. They said bring it in and they’d give me a new one, or something like that. Great customer service. I was disappointed when the retail store near where I live closed up.
Bought a $250 The North Face long black winter jacket used for $50 since it had a broken zipper. Mailed it back to TNF and they replaced the zipper for free. Now 3 years later time to send it back again for more free repairs: a broken snap on the hood, and to have some of the baffle stitching on the back (where the backpack rubs) resewn.
I was thinking it was time for my husband to get a new field coat from LL Bean, his is so worn and frayed now, but then a guy I work for said, “No just call them, you have an outlet near you, they will replace it.” I did that once with turtlenecks that frayed too early around the neck, but didn’t think a coat over 5 years old would qualify. We will see.
I did score a nice black lace dress at BR outlet yesterday for my daughter for 20, down from 80, before that 100. I also got my favorite sweatshirt from there in another color for 15. It washes so well, never shrinks and is so soft. My other daughter found 2 P black pants that actually fit her well for 20 also at Ann Taylor. Not huge steals but a nice day.
BR? Banana Republic?
My husband has an LL Bean coat. He has had it for at least 15 years. It’s worn around the edges. I am NOT taking it back to the store…and I don’t care what the exchange policy is. 15 years is great usage for a winter coat he wears everyday. If he needs a new one, we will buy it.
I have had an LLBean credit card for years. I don’t order from there a lot but there are a few things I do still like there (outerwear and fitness wear) so I keep the card so I can earn some point rewards and pick up things for little to no $$! I have 50 free $$ sitting in my account right now - trying to decide what I want to use it for!
I went through a period of loving the LLBean 1/4 zip lightweight fleece tops. Had several colors and wore them to death. Decided before Christmas that I needed to weed some out of my closet - even after much wear they looked great so H put them on Ebay - they sold quickly and for decent $ - $10 each.
My weekend buy: A Lucky Brand lightweight cable knit-ish light beige sweater originally $88 on the clearance rack at TJMAXX for $23! It was just the kind of sweater I was looking for!
So listening to all these wonderful new bathrobe descriptions got me interested in a new robe. I’d picked up an inexpensive watchdog free last week from Kohl’s with kohl’s cash ( when I gave the rest of the kohl’s cash to a friend’s daughter to use) and the watch died already. So I returned it today, and between that credit back and $10 in additional Kohl’s cash I had from their new promo deal, they paid me $.28 to take a new bathrobe. Score!
