Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Ack for autocorrect. It was an inexpensive watch that I picked up and it died a week later.

A recent good buy for me was new dishes, yay! I’ve waited a long time to get them. Didn’t want to make the purchase before we moved and then have pieces break in transit. All arrived in good condition (ordered post-move), and now I’m getting a ton of email encouraging me to buy complementary pieces. Need to get myself off the mailing list before I’m too tempted! We’ve gotten our other kitchen stuff moved here now. It was all so nice and pristine went the cabinets were more bare, but it’s nice to have what you need, too! Thanksgiving was amusing

I still can’t get over 3bm’s deal. 36 dinner plates – this must be a lot of cooking! I hope your family pitches in and appreciates your hosting!

The Vera Bradley Duffle that bunsenburner saw on Rue la la “today’x fix’” for $49.99 is now $39.99 on Rue la la (under steals for sun and snow). Took a conversatoin with a manager but they did put the $10 credit on my account. Now I am off to spend it.

Good that it worked out for you, jym! You never know what and when and at what price will pop up on these discounters’ sites! The shoes I bought from them for my NYE outfit are now there, too, slightly cheaper, but my size is gone. Don’t think I can get a credit for something I bought in November.

Jym
I kind of liked that dead watchdog! Cracked me up!

Lol!! I missed that. Good one.

I hate autocorrect! Only problem is my typing is worse.

jym626 yes BR is Banana Republic. We have an outlet about 20 minutes away that usually has a few really good bargains.

Thumper I agree, re the coat, 15 years is a well worn coat. When we had turtlenecks fray within months, that was different, and I still laugh at the speed at the time. I called one day and the next day was telling a friend about it on the phone. The doorbell rang and it was a package. They sent it overnight!
That was years ago, but that is what I call service.

So, With the Vera Bradley sale, my $10 courtesy price match credit and still free shopping (for 30 days) I got one of those duffels for DS’s gf, for $29.99. Score. (And typing this as I sit in my free bathrobe).

I like the Vera Bradley stuff and got a nice handbag from my Mom for Christmas, but I made myself a promise a few ago not to buy any duffels that didn’t have wheels. I had a frozen shoulder for about a year and I think it was precipitated by lugging a heavy bag around NYC. When I packed the bag, it didn’t seem that heavy and I envisioned moving quickly and thought about how heavy a wheeled suitcase would be lugging up stairs to my daughters apartment so thought I was going for small and light. Somehow it turned out to be small and heavy!

We may be getting a good deal on how we’re doing our move by not hiring out, but I wouldn’t recommend it
Fortunately we’re most of the way here!

Anticipatory good buy for April - Lilly for Target products. Evidently, most of the items will be under $30. The pictures have some really cute scarves.

Thanks for the heads up! Marked my calendar. Love Lilly’s prints. So cheerful!

I just had to get on and tell about today’s buy. D has choir practice 5 minutes from our huge Goodwill and asked me to look for a replacement for her puffy coat tonight while she sang. I found a new condition Eddie Bauer down jacket for $10 in a pretty aqua. I looked it up when I got home and although it’s on sale right now, it usually retails for $140. It’s not usually too cold here in Seattle but the damp can get to you and she was really missing a warm coat that fit. Now she has one.

^^^ Now THAT’S a great buy! Lucky you!!!

LOVE Goodwill. Stopped in on Monday and got a Columbia quarter zip fleece and an Eddie Bauer long sleeve knit shirt. DH picked up a Banana Republic heavy knit pullover shirt.

I had to buy a new mattress, so I just stopped by Sleepy’s around the corner from me. This is something my ex had taken care off, so I had no idea how much it should cost. I was like the Goldilocks, this is too soft, this is too hard and this is just right. I finally settled on a Beutyrest.

The salesperson told me it was originally 3500, on sale for 2900. I asked them to do better, so they came down to 2400. I patted myself on my back for the job well done. I then got on the internet to see if I got a deal, but of course I found it to be cheaper on another site. I promptly called up Sleepy to ask them to honor their lowest price guarantee which meant giving me the lowest price plus 20% discount. They tried to get out of it by saying it had to be from a brick and mortar store, not a website. I told them that their guarantee didn’t say that. After 5 minutes of “arguing” on the phone, they refunded me $500. Now, I have figure out how to spend that extra 500.

@oldfort – pillows or a duvet from Cuddledown, although the options can be overwhelming. Also, I love a heated mattress pad so that I can warm the sheets but sleep in cold air. (The heated mattress pads are at Costco, but that isn’t helpful to a city dweller.)

I have been a sucker for bedding since reading the tagline for a sheets ad in NYT magazine when I was in high school: “After all, it’s a third of your life”. I bought my first post-college duvet at 85th & Columbus and I think it may be on the guest room bed now. I don’t think the linen store is still on that corner.

I could spend your savings several times over! And I despise mattress shopping. Too much bait & switch, no way to compare prices as the manufacturers make up different names for same product for each retailers. Excellent that you were able to get Sleepy’s to credit you further.

I am furnishing a bachelorette pad for myself. I will be commuting to a nearby city on weekdays for work. Having a lot of fun shopping.
