I just rented a car for a trip to Cleveland this Thursday. I figured I would need to pay a premium because I was sort of last minute. Southwest sent me an email about rental cars…booked through them…mid size car at $12 a day. I have NEVER gotten a rate below $30 a day to cleveland…ever.
Great deal Thumper - I’ll be in Cleveland Sunday and Monday but no need for a car rental.
Too bad we will miss each other, abasket! I won’t be there until Thursday. Or are you going to be there March 8 and 9?
I used to get $12 rental rates in NOLA. Was a happy camper. Typically got a Mazda 3, which was a cute car. And I am still smiling about that $35/day rate I got a few weeks ago for an SUV. Never expected that! In San Francisco no less.
@Thumper, March 1 and 2.
Too bad, abasket! We could have met for coffee.
Check out the North Face and Patagonia jacket deals on 6pm!
Thanks @BunsenBurner - just ordered a gift for one of my kids.
Haven’t been shopping in awhile. On a whim, my girls and I went to Ann Arbor - came back with more stuff than if we had planned the trip!
Among the good buys:
A pair of TOMS clearance at Nordstrom Rack, $24 http://store.premierboutique.com/Classic-Slip-On-Womens-in-Faded-Tropical-by-Toms_p_4158.html
A pair of Nike shoes for running, $65.
And D1 and D2 purchases at Madewell, on clearance plus extra 30% off!
Oh and timely and IMO a “good buy” - a MUCH MUCH needed car wash for my car this morning - in one of the do-it-yourself stalls, only $2!!!
I need to buy a wedding and a shower gift and the Bride is registered at Macy’s. Unfortuntely her bedding is very expensive and not on sale. I found it at another department store, Elder Beerman (part of Bonton chain), for 60% off and free shipping. I bought it there and called Macy’s to tell them to take it off the list. Do you think that is acceptable?
As long as there is some type of gift receipt so they can exchange/return it if needed, it seems like a smart idea to me! Did you check to see if Macy’s took it off the registry?
Thats perfectly fine to do, toledo. Done all the time. Good for you for finding a better price. Would Macy’s have matched it?
Yes, they took it off within a minute of my phone call. And, yes, I think gift receipts are always a good idea.
I think it’s a fabulous idea.
@jym626 - I told the Macy’s gift registry employee the price I got, and she only commented, “We don’t have it on sale today.” Even if they had one of their “20% off sales”, it wouldn’t come close to the price I got.
High-five, toledo!
It is not a problem. We did the same with a luggage gift. The piece was double at Macy’s. It was not a problem at all.
