I’m in trouble now, abasket. Toms are my D’s favorite shoes and that’s what she wanted for “back to school”. I already got her a pair, but she’s never said “no” to new shoes!
I’ve been tempted to buy Tom’s for awhile – but it’s a final sale. Any advice on whether to get my normal size, or size up or down?
fireandrain, D wears a half-size down from her regular size. She has long, narrow feet, if that helps any. I have wide feet and I cannot wear them at all, they’re just too narrow and have no give. The sale price is a GREAT price, btw, this is the time to try them, if you see any you like. If they don’t fit, you can always put them on Ebay. You’ll make back your cost.
Just an FYI for those who have not tried Toms. Those shoes offer almost zero support and cushioning. They are in the same category as “cute flats” when it comes to foot damage.
DIL orders 1/2 size down
You could stop at a shoe store and try some on for size before ordering.
I am close to a narrow and they do not fit me at all.
Nordstrom has plenty of toms on sale and theirs are not final sale. The price is a little higher than the surprise sale.
I went a full size down from my usual size on the classics that I have. I think they do have some arch support and are surprisingly comfortable. I just bought the Avalon style which they say is more supportive, I only went down 1/2 size but the reviews say that they are more true to size.
My classic experience is that they are more supportive and comfortable than ballet flats. But I am sure that is subjective.
I take exception to that BB. I cannot wear flat flats. I mean FLAT. But I have a couple pairs of TOMS and I find them very comfortable. Some of the heels (you can see this on the pictures) are actually more supportive on some. But I find even the classics to be quite comfortable and have had no problem wearing them all day on a typical day. (not running races or walking miles and miles!)
So while they aren’t going to be your Clark’s nicely padded soles, I have found them much more comfortable for my feet than many flats.
I ordered these - they are too darn cute and soooo me!!! http://www.tomssurprisesale.com/women/black-and-white-tropical-print-womens-correa-sandals
abasket-those were my D’s second choice. She chose the cloudscape classics in blue. BB, there IS some arch support and padding. It’s not much, but it’s there. It’s actually quite a bit more padding than the cute little flats I stupidly bought for an event and never wore again, they were so uncomfortable. D doesn’t wear hers for long days on her feet, but then, she doesn’t have many days like that anyway.
Well, getting a free sample entree from Mt House. Will see how it tastes and may buy some for our emergency supplies if it’s decent. Sadly much of the freezes dried entrees have lactose and gluten, both of which are tough for H to handle.
Cheryl’s cookie sample for $9.99 shipping included.

Ordered these ^^^ for my daughter and as always, they were a big hit!!! Free shipping is a winner! The funny thing was that while I ordered them online, the company is literally down the road from her university!
These are also great “thinking of you” gifts for people NOT college students - a co-worker who needs a lift, a neighbor, your parents - who doesn’t want to get frosted cookies!!!
@abasket A few days ago I ordered one which was 6 free cookies but the shipping was $6.99

It must just be me, but I don’t like Cheryl’s cookies.
My kids loved them. The frosted ones. Not saying they are the best cookies in the world, but they fit that niche for providing a fun care package and treat at a reasonable price and pretty good taste. The fact that they are individually wrapped is great for keeping them pretty fresh.
Went to Target without adult supervision… got into trouble… found and bought several (>12) small loufa thingies for the shower. Normally $1.50 each, today 2 for $0.64; making them 32 cents each! Also bought 3 swiffer items to get a $10 gift card and 4 bottles of olay soap to get a $5 gift card. I only buy stuff we use but I could easily become a hoarder.
I save all my Target gift cards for Christmas and buy the kids presents. Last year I was able to buy $150 of merchandise and paid for it all with gift cards.
Cheryl’s cookies take 2 weeks to deliver, so I’ll use another company.
@bookworm I haven’t had any issues with delivery. In fact the deliveries have arrived a couple days earlier.
I placed five orders in the last two weeks and all of them arrived before the scheduled delivery date. The orders were sent to the east and west coast.
Awesome buy of the day! D (recent college graduate) is moving to her first apartment and needed bedroom furniture. We looked at various furniture stores, but she was hesitant to spend real money on good furniture. On a whim, I suggested we go to an upscale consignment store I had seen. We found really nice quality set of queen bed with headboard/footboard, triple dresser, triple mirror that bolts to the dresser, tall chest of drawers and two nightstands for $800! Her room is too small to handle the queen bed, so she’s storing that at our house and using an extra twin bed mattress / boxspring from a relative. This is good enough quality that when she winds up in a real house one of these days, it can easily be a guest room.
Great buy, Pizzagirl. I just finished furnishing an entire 2 bedroom apartment using craigslist in Phoenix. One queen bed had some scratches on the bed, which were easily covered with a black sharpie. It came with a large dresser and nightstand for $350, plus the guy had a pickup truck and delivered it for free. The other set was a queen sleigh bed that was only a year old. It came with a mattress and box spring, a dresser and mirror, and two night stands for $550. The only reason I took a chance on getting one with a mattress and box spring was because I could tell everything was new , I know how to check for bed bugs, and the woman was moving. It was the only furniture she had left in her apartment. I paid a guy $100 to move it for us.
I think nice used furniture beats Ikea any day, but I know there are a lot of people on here that don’t agree.
