Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Plain M and Ms have peanut product in them. They can not be eaten by folks who are allergic to peanuts…so…eat them yourself!!

Oops. I will have to give them all away.

I’ll have some virtual peanut M&Ms, please.

Happy to oblige. How may would you like? I bought 6 bags. But, ahem… one seems to have mysteriously disappeared.

Got a good buy yesterday in a very unique way. D’s senior pictures are being taken tomorrow and she wanted some black flats to go with one dress, but we had not been able to find any she liked. She said she wished her cheapo Old Navy tan ankle strap flats came in black, as that was exactly what she was looking for. While she was at school, I looked at ON online to see if they even SOLD black ones like that. Alas, they do not, but one of the MODELS had a pair on. So, I suggested we go into the store after school and look around.

D found some similar, but without the strap, and was prepared to get those, but went to look at a dress on a mannequin and saw the clerk changing out the outfit. Sitting on the floor was a pair of the exact shoes D wanted-in her size. Not only were they the only pair in the store, they were from the display and not even in the inventory. They had to read the display code off the inside of the shoe to even get a price. So she has a one-of-a-kind pair of shoes for her shoot tomorrow. We paid only $19.99 for them, and she will wear them to death, just like her tan ones. We’re all happy.

^^That is an amazing find and good buy story!!!

Awesome! And they did not even have to undress the mannequin! When I don’t see the size I want, I always check what the plastic ladies are wearing. Never fails - it is usually my size.

These were size 9, and the girl told DD that the clothing on the mannequin is ALWAYS for sale, but most people are too afraid to ask. So it’s a good thing she asked!

Had H call Comcast and he did! and we now have extended cable (HBO!) for free for 6 months and $15 after that–but can cancel anytime–so will do after our 6 months :)>- .

I cancelled a RingTone subscription today that my office has paid $99 a year for–then they offered a deal for $10 A YEAR as I had been with them since 2012…

I know I should have taken it but, man, that annoyed me.

D’s 16th birthday is coming up and she is having a small party and doesn’t want any big ticket gift, but I really wanted to get her something special. I just found the perfect item on Etsy-a cute little necklace that says “I hope you dance” (from the Lee Ann Womack song). Even with shipping it was only $12, and I can add little charms to it like I saw with other designs. As she is a dancer and the song really is about growing up, I can’t think of anything more suited to the occasion.

Well, it took three (!) tries to order the fancy pants shoes I was excited about, with two first orders getting cancelled, but the third time was the charm. Meanwhile, I found a similar-looking pair on MyHabit… So I will have two options to choose from later this week.

I follow the NY Times on FB, Twitter, etc. and have the app on my phone but not an official digital subscription. Toay I noted a “promoted” tweet on Twitter for them that offered an 8 week digital subscription for free (add another 8 weeks for .99 cents).

Not sure how to share this find - if you’re on Twitter and follow them perhaps it will show up on your feed too!

Love their recipes section! (among other things!)

Kiddo has been eyeing my Burberry coat for a while. No way I would let her take it to 'More “for a quarter only.” Today, I saw an almost identical coat on RealReal… Who cares it has been worn! Kid will make sure it will be downgraded from “gently” to “heavily” worn in no time. So I officially started my Christmas shopping. LOL.

I know there are many Macy’s bashers here, but today they have a shoe sale, where if you buy two pairs you get 30% off. I put two pairs of Frye shoes in my cart, and it gave me the discount. I haven’t actually ordered them yet, but I’m close.

Lord and Taylor is giving $20 off your purchase coupons off a $40 purchase at the store through Monday. Some exclusions apply.

Purchased a groupon for Chery’s cookies. $15 off a $30 purchase.
Today only Cheryl’s is offering 2 tins of Halloween cookies (16 cookies in each tin) for $30.
Used the groupon and only had to pay for shipping.

Forgot to mention DD got a gorgeous formal lace Cynthia Steffe dress from Lord and Taylor for $37.60. (originally $268) Saving it for a formal occasion.

Have a lovely “hand me down” light blue Charles Jourdan handbag. I used it at a wedding and sadly a screw that held one of the straps in place fell out and was nowhere to be found. I took it to the shoe and luggage repair place while we ate lunch ($6.99 apiece for lunch specials), and she found a mini-screw the fit the whole to repair the strap. She charged me $8, but it would have cost a whole lot more to get a new handbag and this one works perfectly fine. For the bag repair and the two lunches, it was far less than a new handbag, even if you add in the cost of gas!

DH has a conference upcoming and I will be joining him at the end for a short holiday. DS # 2 will join as well. I just noticed that the room rates dropped and got the hotel to adjust our reservations. Saved $135. Not a fortune, but well worth the phonecall.

Good catch! It can certainly be worthwhile to double check hotel and car rates to check to see if they have dropped.

With Costco.com, I’ve found that car rates tend to be lowest 2 weeks to 2 months prior to the date of the rental start and it can really pay to double check, especially for a longer rental.
