I got three very nice cashmere sweaters for DD (total $80) and a beautiful spring comforter set ($50, originally $160)from Macy’s this weekend. Spring semester starts tomorrow and they are forecasting snow and very cold temperatures end of this week so she has lots of cozy clothes to keep her warm.
@BunsenBurner: You are a wonder. Love that.
While I usually do not go into Kohl’s, they have good luggage sales. Got DS#1 a duffel for $28 (plus tax; no shipping) that as originally $80, and DS#1 a roller board for $113 (plus tax) that was originally $360. But, some stranger came up to me in the back of the store while I was checking prices on luggage and badgered me for my coupon (which was sticking up out of my purse) because she didn’t want to pay the price of some running shoes she had in her hand. I told her I wan’t finished shopping and wasn’t ready to check out yet, but she wouldn’t relent. Kept insisting I could let her use my personal 30% off coupon and it could be used again (like she would ever come back to me with my coupon if I gave it to her? Doubtful. )
A sales clerk happened to come along and told the woman that they now track these personal discount coupons and they can only be used with the store credit card of the person to whom the coupon was sent. The lady kept insisting that I could give her my coupon and she could use it. She complained about the cost of the shoes she wanted and finally walked away. I have often given general extra coupons I don’t plan to use to people in line behind me, and have also asked the checkout employees if the person behind me child use my coupon (when I was finished with it and not planning to use it again) which worked once or twice, in the past, many months ago. But I have never been badgered by a stranger for my coupon. That was bizarre.
^^That’s really weird and uncalled for! If you don’t have your coupon, don’t they let you scratch off a % off card at the register? Pretty odd that she was stalking you for it!
My Kohls doesn’t give coupons at the register anymore…one reason I don’t shop, there…any more!
Coupon stalker! How bizarre. She must have been very desperate.
It was really bizarre
Darn. I had a Kohls 30 % coupon but I think I let it expire. I hardly ever go there. When they let you use coupons on Nike it was worth it. Now many name brands are exempt from coupons.
Yes. I briefly looked at a mophie for my phone but read the small print on the sign- no additional discount. No thanks.
Oh and I forgot to mention- about the coupon stalker- the sales clerk told her she could get 15% off at the register ( which meant only an additional 15% off if she had the 30% off one so maybe $10??) but nope, that was not good enough for her
^^^Jym your stalker sounds more than a bit “unusual” perhaps a touch of dementia? I’m seeing the world through “dementia lenses” these days, recognizing people in public and can spot dementia traits. More common than you would think
Kohl stone crazy lady.
@SouthJerseyChessMom No, this was not dementia. She wasn’t that old and she clearly had her “pitch” and persistence down pat!
(And after decades of working with patients with cognitive impairment, I can assure you she would have passed a mental status exam with flying colors).
She had ECD (Extreme Couponing Disorder)…
Even without a medical diagnosis, she sounds socially certifiable - somewhat akin to the behavior one might encounter at the boarding gate for an overbooked flight.
Who insists to a stranger to relinquish rewards earned (or granted) for one’s own use? Who insists the stranger should share? They should put her picture on the wall by the manager’s office.
They should! But no way was I going to take a photo of her or I probably would have had the box of running shoes she was holding hurled at me!
I order a Shark steam mop from Macys to be picked up at the store. (to save shipping costs)
Originally $99 on sale for $50 and then 60% off. Final price $20.
Oh Macy’s, how can you send me an email stating the item is no longer available when I see it online?
Just mail me the item, I don’t want a 20 percent off coupon.
That is so frustrating. I had J Crew once tell me days after I ordered something it was out of stock. They must have really miscalculated their stock
I have had that happen too- I order something and then a few days later the order is cancelled. Very frustrating.
