Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Thanks for the reminder about CC factory slices of Joy. I got 12 (or 16?) of them at Christmas and still have to use some of them.
ETA - the slices are the exact same as you would get if you were paying for them. They are not samples or small slices.

@raclut: After you first posted about the Kohl’s coupon, and the responses of surprise, I opened my email reserved for shopping rewards and saw that coupon offer. It had expired the day before. I thought I would give myself a Gibbs-smack, but decided that continuing to check it more often would have to suffice. Will continue to check

@Waiting2exhale Honestly it was the first time I got the 40% off coupon from Kohls. Really it was the closest thing to winning a lotto. ( I never win anything.) The most I had ever gotten was 30% off and I don’t have a kohls credit card.

The times I have clicked through on offers like that (not from Kohl’s, but from others) I always ended up with 20% off at best. I always thought it was a marketing ploy, to be honest. I’m probably never going to have a Kohl’s credit card, though with the final kid in secondary school needing blazers and ties I may come close to thinking about it if the incentive is great enough.

You can get takeout slices at Cheesecake Factory. Three of us went for lunch, used our 2 $25 certificates and got 6 slices to go. It was fun choosing slices and enjoying a nice meal together, with leftovers for both of the other diners to have for lunch today. They seemed “normal-sized” to me, but I have only been to CF about 4 times. Our Waikiki store has the highest gross profits of their entire chain, so I avoid it as much as possible–CROWDED!

Yikes - we were shocked to see how many people would line up waiting to get into that store, HIMom, with all of the amazing sushi and other places nearby.

Sushi!! Did someone say sushi??? Yum!

Yes, I only went because I had the gift certificates to redeem–and those free slices! I doubt I will return until I have more things to redeem. I like going to local and ethnic restaurants rather than large chains, for the most part.

I got some tees from GAP for 40% off and they were on sale and I had some GAP/Old Navy cash from using my card over the holidays. So almost free.
I also discovered the Coin Star at my grocery store, no fees if you get a gift cert. So I got Amazon. My husbands bowl of change was 35.00, now I have to add up mine and various ones around the house. Maybe some new sneakers or curtains.?

When shopping online I first go through the ebates site which allows me to get cashback on my online purchase.
Today 3/22 and tomorrow 3/23 Macys is having a sale and online you get free shipping with a $25 purchase.
Ebates is giving 6% cashback plus they will mail you a $10 Macys g/c when you make a minimum $25 purchase online. Macy’s is also having a sale where you can get $10 off a $25 purchase in store or $20 off a $50 purchase in store.

I purchased online a $30 pair of jeans that never come on sale and for which they don’t allow use of coupons.
(it’s an everyday value item) I got 6% cashback through ebates and they will be mailing me a $10 Macy’s g/c in April.

Hope I haven’t confused everybody. You would have to first login to the ebates site and then select Macy’s. This step will provide you a link to their webpage where you can make your online purchase.
Only one Macy’s g/c per household.

raclut, I always try to remember to check both ebates and mrrebates before purchasing online. Often one has a higher rebate than the other so I get checks in the mail from both as they’re both great, easy ways to save money.

Collage1 is right.

If anyone happens to see a sale on Longchamps totes, at a place they can be easily returned (brick and mortar store), please let me know. I think that would be a good gift for son’s girlfriend when she graduates, but I’d prefer not to pay full price. TIA

They are not easy to find at a reasonable discount. Bummer, I just let my Saks 20% code expire
If I get another one, I will PM you.

I saw several $149 totes for $99 at the downtown Rack. But they were orange.

I had a $20 coupon off a $40 purchase from Lord and Taylor.
DD got a pair of short navy blue suede Anne Klein boots originally $119 for $15. (They were marked 75% off) Dd also got a $75 sweater for $7. Final price paid is after coupon discount.
The cashier gave me the coupon back to use again but by that time we were ready the head on home.

Just went to pick up something at Office Max.It reminded me that I’d never gotten the $20 rewards coupon that I was supposed to get several months ago. I called when I got home-- the woman reactivated it (thought it wont be emailed for 5-7 days!0 and I asked if there was anything they do for the inconvenience. Shew offered another $5, and asked if that was ok. I said if she wanted to be more generous I’d love her forever. She upped it to $10. So I should be getting $30 credit fro Office max. And I have to bring in my ink cartridges for recycling (they give $2 per cartridge)

We took our ink cartridges to Staples
have the receipt for that
never got the credit for them. The clerks in the store were less than helpful. Going online got me no where.

Reminded me why I NEVER go to Staoles for anything

Regardless of how good a buy it might seem.

D and I stopped at Goodwill on the way home today. I got three nice spring skirts-one cost $2.50 and one was $4. The “expensive” one was $5. D bought a silk “fit and flare” dress that she likes so much she’s wearing it tomorrow to church instead of the dress she’d planned to wear for Easter. That was also only $5. She is very hard to fit so this was a big win.

@thumper1, I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s not worth the hassle to deal with Staples! Their marketing campaign with the ‘easy button’ couldn’t be further from the truth. I used a coupon for ‘25% back in easyrebates’ on an $80 item in mid January. Seemed like a good deal. I kept checking online for the credit to show up in my easyrebate account. At the end of February I took the receipt back to the store to inquire. They referred me to their 800# to speak with cust svc rep who informed me that she could see that it was pending and it would show up in my account on one of the next two Fridays.

After 4 more weeks, still no credit. I called back and was informed that I would not be getting the credit because I returned the item purchased with the coupon. I had actually bought 2 of that item on two separate occasions, and did return the OTHER one, not teh one purchased with the coupon. I had the purchase / return receipts stapled together to prove it. Rep confirmed on their transaction log that I was correct, but told me that their computer system is not sophisticated enough to know which of the 2 items was returned (even though it was returned using the original receipt which was referenced on the return receipt).

Instead of giving me a bonus for the inconvenience, she only credited $16 rather than the $20 I was owed and remarked that she was in fact doing me a favor since I had returned the item. What?? I thought we already straightened that out. I decided it wasn’t worth pursuing any further. That’s 2+ hours of my life I’ll never get back.

Sorry, the mention of Staples hit a nerve. Rant over.

Crate and Barrel is having their 20% off Wine and Dine sale. I saved $33+ on a shower gift for my niece.

I used to shop at Office Max - that Rewards Card gave me more headaches than it was worth. Staples would never have what I needed in stock. I stopped going to both and give my business to Target and Best Buy. If I can’t find what I need, I will go to Office Max, but don’t even bother using the card.
