Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Knew nothing about the Instant Pot until this thread yet am about to take the plunge since I’m so afraid of my traditional pressure cooker. Quick questions for you experts: Do you folks recommend the additional inner pot, glass lid, and/or yogurt-making insert? Thx!

I got a second ss insert and a glass lid so I could make a stew or pilaf and then quickly steam some veggies to go with the meat dish.

I’m still operating with just one insert. I tend to just do one thing per night and stick to savory items. You should check out the facebook page to see the things people are doing with the IP! You can even search recipes in the search on the FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/InstantPotCommunity/

^ oh wow… I guess this qualifies as a new hobby for the winter! Also picking up some of those eBags packing cubes for family members, thanks to @mom60.

ETA: on the eBags… AmEx has a current offer (that you activate via your Amex account) for $10 off any purchase of $50+

I love good deals, but so far I’m congratulating myself for NOT pulling out the credit card today.
Did plenty of damage last several days though.

If any of you have an equestrian Smartpak is having 15% off. Not a great savings but horse stuff is always hard to find as a good buy. My D wanted a pair of Dublin boots and they were on sale plus the extra 15% off and free shipping.

My excellent buy this week was returning the 3 dresses my D had ordered for a wedding. None of them fit right. We went to the mall Saturday to check out BCBG as they were having a 50% off sale. She didn’t like anything. We had to wait for my H to come back for us so I suggested we browse Macy’s. This location is a real dud but she found a few dresses to try. Found one she liked. It was regular price 39.99 and no sale circular on the rack but I figure at that price I don’t care. At check out the sales person told me total is 14.99. Great buy since everything else she looked at was over $150. My H was thrilled.

We had a mailed postcard from brand new Bloomingdale’s. If you buy $50+ of merchandise, you can have a free lunch for 2 valued at up to $100. H and I went and saw a cool ditty bag for S (who is notoriously tough to shop for). It was on the sale table, so we asked how much it was. The clerk checked and said it was ringing up at full price of $155, but since he saw us find it on the sale table, he gave us the same price of $92.99, plus we got the “free” lunch, and just had to leave a cash tip! S has been looking for the right travel toilet kit for several years and he loves Tumi, which was the brand we found. Win/win! If he doesn’t love it, returns and exchanges are easy.

Hanging up my credit card for the night. Just placed my last order at Target. Truth be told, I had some items in my shopping cart this morning and thought I had finished and ordered - but apparently I never closed it out!

Please tell me (and my bank account) that there isn’t a CyberTuesday!!!

Audible lovers - there are a lot of good books on sale, including some in the series I like - Maisie Dobbs, Inspector Gamache, Flavia de Luce.

@abasket - my H told me I should close my IPad before I buy anything else.

OK Parent Café is dangerous. I just bought a bunch of black cardigans for myself and D – on sale at Target. They were 40% off and free shipping. I bought an assortment of sizes and two different styles, so we will see what actually fits. I thought the prices were excellent and I’m hoping that they fit, since black cardigans are SO useful and mine have a bad habit of disappearing! The eight cardigans including tax and shipping were $91.59! Whichever ones don’t fit me I may gift to nieces or others.

DH needed an updated version of quicken - was in sale both on the quicken site (which wasnt working well) and on Amazon. Both prices were I think about the same at I think $44 instead of $79 but this is from memory).

My other good deal was small-- but got 8 2L bottles of caffeine free diet coke (@snowball and I shop the same stores for these) at the earlier sale price (they were out when I shopped previously) plus I had 2 coupons for buy-3-get-1-free) and a $3 off at the store , plus a buy-one-get-one-at-half-off for an item, so ended up with medicated fabric bandaids (was low on bandaids…) anyway-- all this stuff came to $9 and change… plus the free prescription refill that normally is $172.

Well, shoot! On the west coast, I was placinredg that Stonewall Kitchen order and Boom, 9PM my time, the deal disappeared. How rude!

@somemom Try calling them. It might need to be tomorrow, but many retailers will work with you if you call them up.

I believe I finished the last of my holiday shopping over the last few days. Some really good buys including an iPad, bras from Victoria secret, jeans from Gap, sweaters from express, college sweatshirt, water bottle…most 50% off. My credit card is back in my wallet and my goal is to not bring it out for some time! Thanks for all the tips.

Also, the instant pot discussion here reminded me of the egg thingy discussion on that other thread about items we can’t live without (or something like that)!!

Patagonia’s Black Friday deal where they donated 100% of sales to environmental orgs was 5x the normal sales for that day and raised $10 million. Wow!

My daughter just texted me that Aerie.com has 10 pairs of undies on sale for $35 and free shipping after you spend $50.

Anyone know any cheap places to buy Apple TV? We’ve just been supplied the main family member that we need to buy fors list, and it’s at the top.
