Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Christmas stuff was 90% off at Target today, and thanks to this thread I now have 10 boxes of fairy lights. Not sure what I am going to do with them, but at .88 a box I will figure something out.

After reading this thread I got interested in learning about the fairy lights but wasn’t sure how I would use them. I did buy one set of red, green, and clear lights from Target.

My target had NONE of these. None!

I bought the fairy lights this year and used them 3 different ways. I wove one string around our door wreath and tucked the battery pack out of sight. The timer turned it on at about 6 PM and off at midnight. I put the second string into a 15" tall cylindrical glass vase that also contains red and gold glass balls. It sits on the table in my foyer entry. The third string went into a pretty 12" oval shallow glass bowl with a couple of red and gold glittery Christmas ornaments and some red and gold grape clusters. It made a nice Christmas dinner centerpiece for the table. The fairly lights are particularly nice inside glass containers because they shine through. The lights themselves are very tiny, though, and the wire is pretty fragile. I don’t know if they’ll hold up until next year but they’re cheap enough to replace.

I’ve “saved” a lot the last couple of days by being sick and not venturing out to the stores.
I am TRYING not to buy much I don’t really need. I realized one pair of pants I got a great deal on the other day is dry clean only, and they aren’t that nice, so they will be going back. I used to have to dress “nicer” most of the time, and spent lots on dry cleaning, but these days it’s just not necessary for most every day things.

@patsmom Those are nice ideas to decorate with fairy lights.

I really want some of those fairy lights!!

If you are a fan of Lush, they have restocked their Christmas deals of gift boxes that are buy 1 get 1 free or holiday soaps with are 50% off online. I know my dd is a big fan of this store.

@mycupoftea: Our shoes would never hang out in the same shoe box.

Fancy there at #2. Keep the Vaughn leather/snake embossed ankle boots for sure. Did you really buy six pair? That must have felt like you were having your own party.

Some of those are on sale in your links, and some not so much. Did you get 70% off of each of those? That is great.

@mycupoftea – those pumps are an amazing deal! $74, down from $248
wow. Makes me want to buy them even though I don’t need another pair of pumps

Next on my wish-list: rhinestone loafers! How have I lived so long without them???

Yup, a full 70% discount on each and every pair - that’s why I decided to bring them home and decide later

To clarify, I moved my original post to “dressing young” thread where it should belong - sorry for the confusion.

so not really a good buy, but a helpful thing: D chose to take a “bump” going back to college on her flight. She didnt know she’d have wait an extra 8 hours to get on another plane, but she did get a $500 voucher for future travel. I’m excited!

I can certainly see how 70% off qualifies that post to be here, cupoftea.

Bergdorf discounted its sale merch further - now some stuff is 75% off. There were some good buys there this morning. Now I need to find a dress to remove from the closet.

Sooo, back on cyber Monday I ordered a few boxes of keurig k cups of a coffee flavor I enjoyed over Thanksgiving. The tracking showed that the package never left the facility (all that showed was that the label was generated-- never picked up by the shipping company. Ever. So, after many ridiculous “give it a few more days, its probably the shipping company’s fault- it cant poossibly be our (the vendor)'s fault - they should arrive by xmas” poorly written emails and off shore telephone calls, I finally, after a few weeks, got someone on shore to acknowledge that the package had never shipped. They apologized for the poor treatment I had received and credited my credit card. The credit was applied just under a month ago.

So guess what arrived today, all smooshed, with clear marks from whatever object sat on it or whatever machine squished it, on the packaging, and the boxes squished and opened inside. But remarkably, the kcups seem, from the ones I’ve looked at, to be intact. So
6 weeks late, I have my coffee. Got ot on sale (originally) but this price is better - free.

That’s one slow brew!

@BunsenBurner – are you in NY? I don’t know why I thought you were out west.

Bergdorf’s was always just a ‘walk through’ store for me whereas I would shop at Saks. The prices are probably close but the aura was more hushed at Bergdorf’s!

No, I am on the West Coast, but the magic of the Internet lets me shop the East Coast sales. And Europe, too! I am very shopping-adventurous when it comes to desigher bargains.

Happy to get this thread going again
went to both Value Village and Goodwill today and picked up a few items that will come in handy when it gets warmer: a pair of “stretch linen” NYDJ pants in natural off-white for $1.79 (retail $114) and the Eileen Fisher stretch tencel midi skirt in grey for $4.99. It sells at Nordy’s for $188.Both look and feel so comfortable and should work well with the Seattle weather.
