Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

I have had success buying discounted giftcards on Cardcash.

@jym626, how did you get an upgrade to first class for $20? And, congrats!!

@jym626 my kid is flying here tomorrow. Sure wish she got an upgrade to first class for $20!

Wow—have never heard of being able to upgrade from main cabin to 1st class for $20–usually going from main to economy plus is $70 or more for us—never have the option for 1st class.

Costco had artichokes—4 huge ones for $6.99. D loves them so I bought and steamed them and she was able to enjoy them for dinner with leftovers from a takeout we also bought her. Priceless!

Also got her some spiced, dried/smoked beef from Costco, pickled turnip and other favorites, including some ready to reheat noodles at specialty Korean store. She feels pampered and so happy!

Culver’s has $25 gift cards which include a coupon for a free value meal. In person.

I got an email from the airline about opportunities to upgrade our seats. When I went to the seat selection, there were a lot of options in first class on that leg of our trip, so I am guessing the airline was trying to get some $ for the seats rather than giving them away for free (we were on the upgrade list). There were fewer options in both economy comfort and first class for the first leg of our trip so the price they wanted to upgrade to either one was around $70-80/ticket, as was the option for economy comfort for the leg where we are now flying first class. So clearly the price they offered was based on availability, and it was likely others, like me, would jump at the opportunity to upgrade to first class for $20, so I didn’t want to risk staying on the free upgrade list and missing out.

So, I ordered a bunch of Bombas socks through the 50% off deal mentioned above. Are they considered desirable by college aged students or are they more ā€œmom/dadā€ socks? Just curious as I wasn’t familiar with them until reading about them here.

Bombas running socks are considered premier athletic socks and are quite desirable among runners of all ages! Not sure about their other socks.

Thanks, @BunsenBurner!

Which ones are considered running socks? Excuse my ignorance.

My DD wanted ankle socks…you know…the kind you wear with sneakers and they barely show. We have given her Thorlos in the past…and she likes those.

But this year she just wanted regular socks…not running socks…so that’s what she is getting. No $6-12 a pair socks.

I got her a couple of 6 packs…for $4.99 each.

Considered the Bombas…but even at half price, 6 Pairs were $48.

As a runner, I would say that socks that feel right for your feet are worth every penny. There IS a difference - and the bottom of my feet can tell you - between a 6 pack of Puma socks at TJ Maxx and my dear precious Balega socks (my favorite). Except in the dead of winter I would never choose a thicker sock - thick socks in general are torture to me.

Which just goes to show we all are different - and the right socks for the right person is a thing!

If anyone wants Bombas socks and missed the flash sale at 50% (which was limited to certain sizes and styles anyway), here’s a link I received to get 25% your order:

Have been holding onto coke product bottle tops for a while. Just went to the coke rewards site and cashed in 30 tops for $15 in Amazon credit (they give you a $5 e-gift card for every 10 bottle tops). I also cashed in 10 tops for a coupon for a free large (and refillable) popcorn at AMC movie theaters (DH just used his last coupon when he went to the star wars movie this week). Not a huge bargain but free is free!

Does anyone need dress shirts for men? Jos.A.Bank is having a sale. SIL’s favorite shirts, regular price 89.50, are 39.00. There is also a coupon for $20 off $100.

Used my 20% off coupon at Ulta to wind up the shopping. They had the perfume #2D wants in a set with a bath gel for 50% off, or $28. The perfume by itself (same size) was $56. I was prepared to get 20% off with the coupon, so the sale price was an added bonus and I could get something else to round out the gift. A foundation I like was their daily special - $12 instead of $39.

Banana Republic had 50% off everything.

Ipad 9.7 in on sale at Target for $249.

@raclut

Which iPad model. Folks should know because once the IOS can’t be updated…the use of many applications will go away.

I just put one of those $249 iPads in my shopping cart…REALLY tempted… @thumper1 what do you mean? Should’t any new iPad be updated and be able to be updated in the future???
