I did get my toothbrush from Amazon today (2 day Prime). They never sent an email that it was shipped but they came through. Delivery guy sort of hid it in the bushes by the porch.
About an hour later a different delivery man brought a Cheesecake that someone had sent as a gift from Junior’s in NYC. No chance of that being stolen! We rushed it right in and started eating.
Last minute shoppers:
The Cheesecake Factory is having the promotion again of buy a $25 ecard and get two free slices of cheesecake vouchers. Today, 12/21 only.
Not sure if I should be posting here or on the USPS delayed delivery thread (although I’m FedEx).
I don’t think I was supposed to have the Swiss Gear backpack discussed several pages back, and ordered by so many of you. I placed my order on 12/9, but have not yet received it even though the estimated delivery date was 12/12-12/14. I called Sam’s CS yesterday. They said the request for pick up was made on 12/13 and a FedEx tracking number has been assigned, but and they cannot track it because FedEx didn’t pick it up yet. If they didn’t pick it up yet, shouldn’t it still be at their facility and they should know where it is?? Must be in a black hole somewhere.
They are re-sending with expedited shipping so that I have it by Christmas … hopefully. I’m not holding my breath…
Hmmm, maybe a cheesecake slice would ease the suspense—see above for 2 Free slices with $25 gift card purchase.
I’m sure that must be terribly frustrating.
I am not expecting any more deliveries but S seems to be. Everything I have purchased is wrapped. I bought extra wrapping and tissue paper because my kids tend to be very last minute and are still shopping.
Got an auto text from the pharmacy that some $400 dermatology cream is available for refill. I always say no, but remembered at the end of the year, sometimes our prescriptions are free. So I called the pharmacy to check, and see enough- it’s free! I will pick it up on my way home!
My other good deal, sorta, was that one family member who was going to travel with us next week isn’t coming (thats the bummer), so we don’t need the big Chevy Tahoe that we initially rented to manage all the people and stuff. Even with special deals, it was going to cost $900 for 5 days. The rental car company doesn’t allow you to use points for cars in that big Tahoe class, but we decided to scale down to the midsize SUV (the rental car companies call it “large” but its not- they are the Buick Enclave/Dodge Durango/Nissan Pathfinder/Ford Explorer) using points, so instead of spending $900, we are spending $119 on taxes and fees.
Just got a Logitech MX Anywhere 2S ‑ Wireless Laser Mouse and a Beats by Dr. Dre - Powerbeats³ Wireless Earphones with a Best Buy reward certificate that we received from purchasing a refrigerator from them during the Black Friday sales. The local Best Buy matched the lower online prices for both of them, too.
The Logitech mouse is pretty neat. I can traverse across up to three desktop/laptop screens with it as well as set up bluetooth connection up to three. I copied all of my photo collection from the old laptop and pasted on my new laptop by simply moving the mouse across the laptops. It also freed up a USB port on my new Dell XPS 13. The earphones, on the other hand, finally freed me up from wire connection. Works great, sounds great.
Update on the good deal with the rental car: they ended up giving us a Chevy Tahoe anyway (even though we scaled down to a smaller car) and we expected the fees and taxes were supposed to be $119. But, our rental agreement says the week rental for this Chevy Tahoe ( which was originally $900) is: $45.45. Score!!
Turns out there’s no tax when you pay for the car with points. And, with all the grandbaby paraphernalia, we filled the car up! Good thing we have the bigger car.
If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can get a Philips Sonicare Essence Sonic Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush for $11.95 ($24.95 - $13.00 instant coupon you can clip). As long as you’re shopping Amazon, how 'bout using AmazonSmile … everything is exactly as it is on Amazon, except that 0.5% of eligible purchases will be donated to a charity of your choice. If you don’t have a specific charity in mind, may I suggest the American Cancer Society? Happy deals!
Wow, a couple of GREAT scores at Nordstrom Rack today. If you have one nearby run don’t walk to the dress section. It’s Clear The Rack - extra 25% off clearance.
Among other things I found these two dresses. I wear dresses/skirts most daily to work. i like color and an easy fit. Like to wear them with tights or a tan when I have it!
I have no idea why they were so inexpensive. Not a thing wrong with either. Both Eliza J brand.
@abasket - great score. I thought I did well with my Eliza J dress that was either 22 or 12 bucks - I can’t remember. I’m trying to decide if I can wear a dress that inexpensive to a nice wedding next summer. It’s a light blue color, with a lace overlay. I think it will be fine for a summer wedding.
No one knows how much your dress costs except you! If it’s a nice dress that suits you and is appropriate by the way it looks not it’s price tag, wear it!
The $45 rental worked out great. (Someone scraped the front grill a bit, or we didn’t notice it when we left at night, but we didn’t do it ourselves). And there is a family with a set of triplets who don’t walk yet, so are probably under a year old, and also have a toddler in the main cabin of our plane. I am so glad I spent the $20 for these first class seats we are in. And congrats a basket on that shopping score.
Hmmm, have one or two weddings coming up this year—maybe D and I will make a quick trip to NR when she gets home from lunch. Those are amazing prices—lower than Ross and thrift shop!
I was bummed because S had a pretty expensive Booq backpack that he doesn’t want any more (the straps were fraying because the maker used too loosely woven fabric for them).
I studied the backpack for awhile and then got out my sewing kit and was able to repair the backpack in a short time with a scrap of fabric I had laying around and some careful hand stitching. It looks pretty good, if I do say myself and certainly will give this expensive, quality backpack additional useful life, whether in our home or elsewhere.
