Thanks for the heads up - avoided that place. NR is a dangerous dungeon downtown.
@abasket - you scored some great deals. I donāt have a local Rack and it probably saves me a lot of money. If I could just pop in Iām sure I would find some better deals. Last time I went I searched the dresses but they didnāt have much. I did score on a swim suit which Iāll use when I go sailing in May. I think each piece was originally $65 dollars and I paid $8 for the top and $5 for the bottom.
Excellent @abasket!!
The Rack is a 45 minute drive from hereā¦but honestlyā¦if I needed a dressā¦Iād make the drive!
Have not had the success others have with NR. When I was looking online just now, wasnāt getting an extra 25% off dresses when I had them in my cart and trying to checkout. Oh well, saving $$$.
Online they are definitely showing 25% off of clearance items - perhaps the discount comes closer to the payment page?
The Rack I go to is almost an hour away in Ann Arbor - fully worth the trip - we pair it with other favorite AA stops.
The extra 25% off (clearance only) at Nordstrom Rack online shows up on the product page ā it shows the extra 25% in the price listed so thereās not another discount on the check out page. I am close to a couple NRs so buy often because returns are so easy. Definitely a dangerous place! This clear the rack sale started 12/25 and I placed an order that day which came yesterday. Unfortunately, kept only one of 6 items. Glad you had such success in the store, @abasket! GREAT deals!
I think it was this thread where someone posted the backpack/suitcase by Swiss Gear from Sams Club for $25ā¦I sat on it for awhile, unsure if we really NEEDED the backpack or I was just getting swept up. Finally pulled the trigger and they just arrivedāblue for me and black for dh. We really just have the carry on (22") wheeled bags that we use for short-medium length trips. There have been times when weāve just gone somewhere for 1-2 nights and that was overkill. I think these backpacks will be perfect. I really love how they unzip all the way. Thanks to whoever shared them originally. Also, weāre not members but there wasnāt a surcharge. Excellent value.
That was @HImom !
My first order of the backpack slipped into a delivery black hole, but the replacement order did arrive in time for Christmas. Unfortunately my husbandās laptop does not fit. Iām so disappointed as it would have been perfect for his frequent weekend trips.
As a non-member, I did pay a surcharge.
I just bought this:

with another 25% off coupon. D2 loves to watch movies on her laptop in bed and I like to sit on a coach. I donāt like putting a laptop on my lap.
Nice!!!
Shucks, @SnLMom. I bought 2 blacks and one blue plus 2 leather backpacks. S decided he preferred Hās Tumi backpack and D wanted the black SwissGear and H and I are happy to have the two other backpacksā blue for H and black for me.
We all decided we didnāt want the brown leather backpacks so they will be going back to Samās.
D is very pleased and feels she can use the bag as a mini-suitcase as well as a backpack. She says it doesnāt feel like overkill when sheās only going for a few days the way the rolling suitcase is.
Got this movie snack bucket at Target for 79 cents. Plan to use them while D gets together with friends this evening.

Stopped by Nordstom Rack at @abasketās suggestion. No dresses for me but I found a beautiful pair of aquatalia booties for $112. A great deal for this brand and they fit perfectly. Not sure Iāll do it but Iām tempted to stop by a different NR tomorrow. Weāll see how the day goes.
Happy new year everyone. May 2018 be filled with good health, happiness and lots of bargains!!
I have a nice Nordstrom Rack near my home but I am afraid to go there. (Donāt want to spend anymore money and if I see a good deal I may not be able to exercise self control)
I went to Costco to buy a gift and make some returns. I bought oil painting kit with starter tubes and two canvases and brushes & instructions for only $22, a watercolor kit with tubes of watercolors, brushes, pencils, paper and instructions again only $22. Also bought a magic kit only $27ā300 tricks and video included. They also had lightly salted Mac nuts on sale, so bought 2 bags. They had trufflesā4 lbs $7 and chocolates of the world, 2# for $7 apiece (bought 2 for my upcoming meetingsāboard & support group).
If D doesnāt think niece or nephew want art kits may have H and I try painting. It will be interesting and was inexpensive.
Free! You can upload your raw DNA file (from 23andMe and others) to Promethease (to get a genetic health report) for free until January 15. Normally this costs $5.
*Promethease is a literature retrieval system that builds a personal DNA report based on connecting a file of DNA genotypes to the scientific findings cited in SNPedia. *
Thanks, Madison. I just uploaded my data to Prometheus. It was interesting. I wasnāt aware that Promethease provided more genetic info than 23 and me, but it does.
Our CVS stores are clearing out their holiday toysā75% off! I got my nieces some very cute toys (their birthdays are coming up). One of the toys is a plastic wagon you can push around and it picks up the mega blocks! The other is an elephant with some mega blocks and a fisher price farmer with tractor and push button gate. Also bought young neighbor who likes visiting H a set of 20 cars and a mat. The price for all 4 toys was $20 instead of $80!
I uploaded my Ancestry raw DNA file to Promethease last week. Just be aware there is an incredible amount of data, some of it contradictory, and some of it potentially worrisome.
