Nope—our Costco just had reg price ham, but did get chili to go for dinner at take out.
That $6 ham tastes great! Still plenty left for the Superbowl.
Our ham was $1.99/lb, no discounts. Didn’t but any!
Dang I went to Costco before looking here!!! Mr. is a fan of that ham.
Had to order a carpet runner (after basement flood fiasco). Found it on line with most prices ranging from $80-$149. I got it for $40. Hope it gets here on time. Supposed to arrive in a week.
Safeway has lobster tails for $3.99 each today-this is less than 1/2 price for our area. I got two, went to my Grocery Outlet and got two local beef tenderloins wrapped in bacon for $5 (for both). Then added asparagus and a bottle of wine that sells for $18 elsewhere for $6. DH and I will have a nice surf and turf dinner for what the two lobster tails would normally cost.
And just think about how much that would cost you at a restaurant, @sseamom!
I have been collecting Spode Christmas China for over 40 years, with my first pieces given to me by my mom. This past year I noticed the green trim was flaking off on some pieces. I contacted Spode and they said they would replace the items. I received the first box and it was missing a bread and butter plate. I called again and they said there was a mistake on their end and they were sending me another set of my replacement dishes. So, instead of 5 dinner plates, 2 salad plates and 1 bread and butter dish, I got double that amount! 10 dinner plates, 4 salad plates and 1 bread and butter dish. The only drawback is that Spode now makes all their China in, yeah, China. Mine were made in England. But, hey, it was all free and now my set is complete again with spares.
Well, fine china originally came from China, hence the name.
Wow, thanks for the alert @sseamom! Off to Safeway tonight.
Someone tell me when the Alaskan crab legs go on sale at Costco. I prefer legs over ham.
So true @doschicos, unfortunately it isn’t the same quality. Spode China made in England is worth 3-4 times more than the same product made in China.
Agree. Mine from England is much better quality than the pieces I have from China. The plates from China are not as thick; not always level, the paint is not always even and they just feel cheaper.
Wow. I love Naturally Light Fever Tree Tonic. 30 calories for a bottle.
Some stores have 4 for $7.99. Target has 4 for $5.99. Between H and myself we have gone to 5 stores
and all are out because it is popular, (so make your order bigger!!!)
I just ordered 48 bottle with free shipping at for 4 for $4.53.
My H told me today he was going to go on and buy replacements for my Spode on Replacements.com. They do have replacements from England. That way he said my sets would be complete. He feels the replacements from China are not the same quality and takes from the value of the dishes. I think he knows I feel kind of sad because the dishes were a gift from my mom. This way I won’t know which plates are from my original set or which are the replacements. I’m still happy with my replacements from China and will happily use them and I think Spode was great to replace dishes that were probably over 30 years old.
@chumom, your H sounds like a dear and I’m sure he’s happy he can buy you something he knows you’ll be thrilled with! It is good Spode did replace with what they could obtain.
I have an everyday china pattern that is no longer made, Evesham by Royal Worcester. It has a gold rim and can’t go in the microwave, but few people had microwaves when I married and I never knew that I would deem the need to microwave essential. Anyway, RW also made a pattern called Evesham Vale with a painted border in place of the gold and I have some pieces in it to use when I microwave. I needed some more a few years ago and found that it was still available from some sources like Replacements, Ltd., etc. The difference between the pieces made in England and the newer pieces from Bangladesh is noticeable and significant. I understand the need for cost control, but the quality is not the same. Too bad that this is a pattern with Spode and RW.
@Chumom, I found the English pieces cheaper on eBay than at Replacements, but you have to work for those pieces a little harder because availability is unpredictable. Your husband is very sweet to want you to be happy with your set of Spode.
I love that Evesham pattern…if I had chosen china when we got married, I probably would have chosen that as well.
I agree on checking eBay.
Thanks for the input everyone. I will have him check Ebay. Yes, he’s a keeper!
I don’t know if this makes me a bad person…I was shopping online on my favorite grocery store, Freshdirect. I browsed their meat section for sales and saw veal rib chops for $2.50/lb with saving of about $20. I knew right away it was a fat finger typo, instead of $22.5/lb, it was $2.5/lb. I bought 4 of them for around $12. My bill said I saved around $75.
Maybe I don’t feel too bad because I have given so much business in the last 4 years.
