Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

I got a $33 check in the mail for some class action thing I have no recollection filing for. We qualify for it, it was just a nice surprise.

I just bought these two dresses today at Saks Off Fifth. I have 4 weddings this spring through summer and I don’t know which one I’ll wear these to, but I have to start somewhere buying a few new frocks for all these weddings. Bought a pretty black & white silk scarf to wear around my shoulders.

@emilybee, I like the first one.

Thx. I do, also.

I like them both. I think I have similar taste to @emilybee as I usually like most of the clothes she posts.

The lobster tails are back on sale at Safeway until Tuesday. $3.99 per tail, “wild caught”. The ones we had the other night were perfect. H and I got a great buy today-he is going to the Comic Con next month as a Jedi-a friend of mine is making him a costume. We found a pair of brand-new, unworn desert combat boots in his size for $15. We looked them up and they go for $200. Jedi don’t actually wear combat boots, but these will work just fine.

Found some beauty finds at trader joe’s today. I purchased a rose water toner spray for $3.99. They also had a hand lotion and a rose oil facial serum. Another thing I purchased for the same price was a coconut oil and shea hair mask which is a deep conditioner. Those are my treats to myself for Valentines day.

It reminded me of a rosewater spray I have from Mario Badescu.

In my never ending quest for frocks and shoes to go to the all the weddings (and now a bar mitzvah is added to the list,) I went shopping again today.

First pair of shoes which I only paid $124 for - https://www.lastcall.com/Loeffler-Randall-Nicolette-Fur-Trim-Ankle-Wrap-Sandal/prod47340221/p.prod?ecid=LCCS__GooglePLA&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=LCCS__GooglePLA&utm_campaign=LoefflerRandall

They will go with my blue lace dress and look darling with jeans too.

Second pair: http://www.millarsshoestore.com/womens-c3/high-heels-c22/court-c33/gabor-patent-platform-courts-4127077-black-p1941

I paid $135. I will wear them with the Derek Lam sheath dress I bought a few weeks ago and this dress which I bought today for the San Francisco wedding in April. https://www.evavarro.com/home/2709-bateau-flutter-slv-dress.html

My dress has the design only in white and only on the sides. I think mine is prettier then this one. The fit is perfection, too. I am also going to wear it to the Bar Mitsvah in October.

Since two of the weddings are going to be partially outdoors I bought this jacket to wear but in Ecru. Will look cute with jeans too. https://www.shopbop.com/shavani-jacket-iro/vp/v=1/1506266727.htm

Unfortunately not on sale so paid full price. :frowning:

Fresh Squeezed OJ for $8 a half gallon at Market Basket. It was store brand, and freshly squeezed in store. Delicious. We’re suckers for ice cold freshly squeezed OJ.

May be the wrong place to share this – so, my apologies.

Was delighted with Best Buy return policy – college kid’s laptop (6 years old, a good run) was replaced and we realized he needed an adapter for various peripherals and connections because the ports had changed. Got $80. multi connection adapter, college kid ripped the box all the way down the middle only to discover it was not what he needed. Went back to Best Buy to get the $25 one we really needed, and figured the ripped box meant our $80 was gone. Nope, they gave us full refund! Thank you Best Buy!

We changed our cellphone account, which still has the kids on it (yes, they are not kids and they make more than we do!) from a family to a business account, and got the BOGO deal for the iphone 10/8 (and got an ipad for next to nothing). The first bill was confusing so we called and spoke to a rep who ended up asking me professional questions about a health issue of hers and her daughter’s, and then acknowledged that they had initially identified the ipad incorrectly as our primary line and when I had called in to get that corrected they did something funky with the prorated base plan rate without explaining that to us. So, she credited us the $43 for that prorated portion of part of the month. I’ll take it!

Walgreens has winter clothing on clearance for 90% off. I got $76 worth of new hats ($.79 - $1) , scarves, gloves/mittens ($.30 - $1), long underwear sets ($1), leg warmers ($.79), socks ($.39), and tights ($.59) that I will set aside and donate to the women’s shelter / homeless center next November/December.

@3puppies: You are a very nice person.

Probably no need to hold onto the long underwear sets as homeless get cold at night even in warm weather states.

Again, you are my person of the day.

@3puppies—those are great deals! I’m sure you will warm many lucky souls! You are shopper of the day, with a purpose!

@HImom - I appreciate the kind words, but I wouldn’t necessarily call them “lucky souls” when the grateful recipients are most generally “down on their luck” . I am hoping my post will inspire others to look for similar deals in their respective area(s) as the need seems to grow every year.

My late FIL used to say the first sign of spring is when the winter clothing goes on clearance!

One tire on my not quite year old car got two low air alerts in three weeks. Took it into Discount Tire, they found a small nail up inside the tire, removed it, plugged the hole, and patched it. No charge. I know that’s not uncommon, especially since we’re past customers, but it was a good buy for me!

Went to Total Wine this weekend. Rombauer Zin has been sold out almost everywhere. Looked online at other sellers, and the pickings were slim. Winery was out, too. Today, miraculously, the winery sent me an email that there was a chance to buy leftover zin from wine club shipments. A case is coming our way!

Not sure if this is a repeat for most of you if you frequent the “mindless spending” thread

Eddie Bauer has extra 40% with code: NOMAD

I’ve been looking for a very lightweight vest of good quality that I could wear for running since the first of the year. Fit and color important to me. Eddie Bauer has an extra 40% off clearance items. I found a vest that fits all those needs - lightweight, packable, good pocket storage, reversible, festive color- everything checked off. Originally $129 on sale for $89, take an extra 40% off, had a $10 rewards certificate, recently got bumped up to free shipping on all orders and 2% back on ebates. It’s a piece that should fit my specific needs and last a long time. And because it’s reversible it’s sort of like two looks in one!

H needed a medium sized cross-body bag that would both fit and work with a costume he is wearing in the upcoming comic con this weekend, something we didn’t realize until the last minute. Didn’t want to spend much, obviously. Went to Value Village and found the exact thing, by Baggallini, in a nice generic black color, for $7, but I had 20% off. It’s in perfect condition-if he doesn’t want it after the con, I’m going to take it!

Alaska Air - free upgrade to business. Free chat on wifi
internet is not included, but psst. CC iPhone mobile site works! It is as slow as molasses, but I will take that!
