Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

I think that the Groupon for Mrs. Fields Cookies under Kansas City’s offerings for the holiday store (on the right hand side) is a good deal. $25 for $50 worth of Mrs. Field’s cookies/brownies, etc. Apparently it expires on Feb. 15th and one can only use it online.

I am so excited about my good buy! My daughter really wanted this comfy robe from Anthropologie, but I was hesitant to spend $118 on a robe. My husband convinced me to buy it, reasoning that she would use it every day. Also, since she has skin allergies, lots of stuff doesn’t feel good on her skin, but this robe wa fine. So, against my sensibilities, I bought it on Saturday. And of course, Monday I get an email that Anthropolgie is having a pre holiday sale, 25% off all sale stuff. On a whim, I looked up the robe online, $59.95!!! Not that that is all that cheap for a robe, but I feel so much better about that price. I called the store and all I had to do was bring in the receipt for the adjustment. The transaction went smoothly and I even bought my daughter a ear warmer, also on sale. Props to anthropologie for their excellent customer service!

fishymom, That is great! I love stores that do that. I have done it at Target for years.

I bought S some pairs of slacks at BR/Gap. They helped find his exact size (28x28) and there was a discount of 35-40%. Then they helped me find a pair of GAP khakis that are also his size @ 20% off. They apologized that the free shipping would NOT arrive before Christmas but it was delivered last night (only a few days after the order was placed). The woman I spoke with at their toll-free number was VERY helpful and said that everything could easily be returned at the local store. I wrapped them last night & added them to the pile under the tree, replacing the IOU I had originally wrapped & put under the tree. The wool slacks + khakis in S’s size were a total of $108 (the wool slacks alone are normally $99.95 & tough to find in his size).

D2 bought D1 her Christmas present at Gap on Tuesday. It was a sweater jacket originally priced at $69.50. It was marked down to $29.99 then 40% off that price with a final cost of only $17.99. I did not buy any Christmas presents at the Gap this year that were not at least 40% off. I got both girls these fold up flats called “City Flats” that you can carry in your purse. They were originally $39.50 marked down to $13.99 with 40% off my final cost for each pair was $8.39.

I bought D one of her Christmas gifts at BR. It was a pair of jeans normally $90, on sale for $32 and 40% off making them $20.09! It was one of the few pairs that actually FIT her!

She tried on but decided against a fitted wool blazer that was full-price (they don’t have fabric on the underside of the collar, only interfacing & it looks really tacky & low price even tho the blazer was $200). Very disappointed to see the cost-cutting!

Screw the Christmas gifts, I just bought myself a pair of Lucky Jeans at TJMaxx for $29.99!

:)

^^^Merry Christmas abasket!

Ha. ha. I’m wearing my good buy from last week, the mustard color Dockers Soft Khakis, $12.99 at Marshalls.

I love these pants. I washed the other pair. There isn’t even a whiff of wrinkle free about these things. They come out of the dryer 100% wrinkled, but a quick iron job fixes 'em right up. They’ll never have creases or look like dress pants. Just a more comfortable slightly dressier version of jeans. Did I mention really comfortable?

Now, I just need Marshalls to get the marine blue or the stainless gray ones. Even I might pass on the barn red – although I might be tempted!

I just bought myself…NOTHING! Nothing for anyone else either. (I shop on International Gray Sweater Day - January 1st.)

mini, you are a riot!!

STILL Christmas shopping at our house apparently.

Bought an LG blu ray player on ebay last eve. Bottom of the line but waaay cooler than our 12 year old DVD player. Brand new, $65, free shipping.
It will go nicely with DHs soundbar thingy that Santa brought.

Used my Groupon at Nordstrom’s Rack…new Sofft black pumps, $15.14. They are amazingly comfortable, and I can wear the ankle brace with them (ok, not my favorite thing about them, but necessary).

$1 + $5 shipping @Amazon

I hope you can hook it up with your surround sound system. I got one, but unfortunately the SS system can only take stereo (audio) input. I had a choice, better sound or better picture. I decided to go with the picture.

“I just bought myself…NOTHING! Nothing for anyone else either.”

Neither did I. Everything I bought was for the house. In addition to blu ray, the house got new kitchen counter tops, living room and bedroom floors.

simba-

I’m the shopping bot in this house…DH or DS decides on which ‘black box’ electronic things we ‘need’ and I take the item number and find the very best deal on it online.
They usually study the imput/output configurations to see that the thing will work.
This one has an HDMI out that should go into the soundbar.
Having said that, actually making the things talk to each other is not my gig.
For $65, I’d be plenty happy with better picture only (like you) if I had to choose.

Has anybody tried EMU Australia boots? They are 70% off at amazon today. Trouble is they don’t have size six. They say they run large so I could try a five. Seven would be way too big even with sox?

We wear EMUs (I won’t pay for the UGG name!)…they’re very comfortable and have a stitched in liner, but I don’t think they run terribly large. D is an 8.5 normally and wears an 8 EMU. I’m an 8 and also wear an 8 EMU…but we both have wide feet and don’t like our toes touching. They do hug the back of the foot nicely and tend to stretch with wear. If you can’t find your size and don’t want to take a chance, 6pm.com often has them for 50% off and you can find coupon codes (and mr. rebates offers cash back).

^ Those look really tempting for under $30! I mean how bad can they be? I almost paid that much for Costco knock-offs. I just worry about the fit.
