Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

I bought a pair of the Emus for myself and D, at less than $30 a pair they don’t have to last forever. Sizes are going fast though…I puty one pair in my cart for her and by the time I tried to check out her size was gone.

Darn, no more 5’s. My actual size is rare enough that even though I don’t need boots, I went to check it out.

arrrggghhh every time I picked some and added it to my cart they sold out.

Wow, most all styles are now totally sold out. Not even listed as a few left. I snoozed a bit too long on those…I’m going to regret it, I just know it!!! :(

Don’t you hate that - the item added to your cart evaporates a second before you click “proceed with purchase”! I like Bluefly’s approach - if something is in your cart, it stays there for 30 minutes. But if you don’t pay for your purchase within that time - that Coach purse will turn into a pumpkin! LOL.

Our Marshalls carries EMUs for a reasonable price.

My good buy…today I went to BB and Beyond. Got DS a service for 4 of nice stainless flatware…original price $49.99. Marked down to $19.99. 33% off of the lowest ticket price AND used my (expired) 20% off coupon…$10.73 out the door. Not bad and he needs it.

I also got some very nice gifts for an after Christmas exchange I’m going to…all 50% off.

My total spent today was $36 and they told me I SAVED $34. Not bad. The “savings” on my silverware must have been off the $19.99 price.

And my BBB took ALL six of my expired coupons.

It is snowing in my neck of the woods! I got up at 6 am on my day off, braved the elements, made my way through a tight spot on the icy road to the freeway (past the two jackkinfied buses!) to drive DD to her jury duty… Now I’m back in the house and I’m in a major money-wasting mood.

Bought a realy nice flower vase fom TJMax for 19.99. Very modern and unsual, even the clerk commented on it as being surprised it was in their store. Under their price tag as an original tag of 95.00. Yea

I just picked up two All Clad pans with covers at Williams-Sonoma for $119 and $129. I went to the store, because online shipping is horribly expensive. The sizes I got fill in the small set that I already have nicely:

Just ordered shoes and shirts from RL online - there is an extra 25% off discount on some already reduced items, so the total discount is close to 60% off.

Crate and Barrel coffee table for $138!. This was a floor model that I had admired for some time. Perfect for my living room. One small scratch on a leg. The salesman kept staring at the tag as if he did not believe the price, which was originally more than twice what was marked. I was surprised too!

I bought 2 12 packs of Spode cloth napkins. Originally $24, $12.99 at TJ Maxx, 50 % off of that so about $6 each.

Just bought a pantsuit at Lord & Taylor for a job interview. The tag said $240 and there were no signs indicating a sale. It rang up at $69.99! Wish I could’ve found a second one in another fabric!

The All-Clad stainless deal sounds great! I don’t believe in paying All-Clad prices for non-stick. It’s been my experience that non-stick lasts for a year or two, no matter how well you treat it. After that, the non-stick properties are toast. So I look to buy some kind of deal on a couple of high quality disposable non-stick skillets every couple of years. This year, it was two-fer closeout – a package with a 9 inch and 11 inch Kitchen Aid non-stick skillet. Heavy anodized aluminum (with a red enamel exterior, that will be black in no time the way I cook!). Top-of-the-line non-stick interior finish. Heavy All-Clad style riveted metal handles. Just perfect for flipping and sauteeing and when the non-stick is shot in two years, I’ll throw 'em away and buy the same thing again in whatever brand Marshalls has on sale. $24.95 for the pair.

I actually bought two slightly different sets – both Kitchen Aid, both in red – so for under $50, I ended up with 8 inch, a 9 inch, 10 inch, and 11 inch (the sizes I use all the time, when one is either just a little too big or a bit too little or I need two the same size, one for fish, one for veggies) heavy aluminum non-stick skillets. The old ones (from Christmas 2 years ago. which are no longer non-stick) are in the recycling bin at the curb.

My reasoning exactly, interesteddad! I consider non-stick cookware disposable, and I would never pay (even discounted) All Clad prices for it.

I now have an induction cooktop, so my choices are limited. I’m currently without a non-stick skillet.

^^^we also have recently added an induction cooktop - have you found a suitable wok?

We only own stainless-steel with NO coating. We do have a ricepot that has a non-stick coating that has lasted much longer than two years but we only use rice paddles in it & don’t scrape it. The ricecookers mostly seem to come with non-stick coatings, so we don’t have a lot of choice in the matter.

That’s a good way to go, too. I held out for many years, but I have to admit that high heat and good non-stick has a lot to be said for it. I find it particularly useful with fish, where I want to put a nice sear on a piece of salmon and not have it stick.
