Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 2)

We spent a good amount of $ at BBW as my daughter were growing up but we also did most of that shopping at their semiannual sales where we would stock up.

But yes we used to get a good coupon on the mail like monthly!

Just walking by the store in the mall bothers me, and I get headaches from the smells. My step-d used to love their stuff, and she would put all the scents she owned on, together.
I did like some of their non-smelly stuff. IIRC, it came in blue packaging. It was often excluded from sales though.

There’s a consignment store a few towns over that I love. They always have good brands of women’s clothes and housewares. That’s all they sell. They seem to really know how to run a business. Today I didn’t win whatever they were offering for the shopper who had the most children - they found a winner when they got down to 4 children. But all clothes and shoes were half off as an unadvertised Mother’s Day special and I got a dress, a pair of summer pants, and 4 tops for a total of $28.

The last time I went to Bath and Body works, they didn’t have ANYTHING that was unscented. I asked as I too had a coupon worth about $15 and they had nothing. My daughter used to use some lotion that was either from there or The Body Shop and I couldn’t ride in a car with her if she put it on.

I can take a few of their things that are ‘spicy’ but nothing floral. That was before I went to a dermatologist last year who advised nothing with scent at all.

The same scent from The Body Shop was usually “acceptable” to me, as compared to BBW. And they did have nice unscented options. I’m not sure if they exist any longer. I used to buy stuff for Christmas stockings from there, but the mall location near me closed years ago.

Yes, I could use The Body Shop lotions and cream with scents like Milk and Honey. It’s the floral scents that do me in, especially rose and lily. But that Hawaiian scent for BBW was a killer.

Now I just go scent free. Just easier.

Warm Vanilla Sugar and Kitchen lemon are the only BBW scents tolerable to me. Only if purchased on one of their big sales is the price tolerable.

Why do stores bother to put ridiculous full prices on tags? I picked up a pair of shorts today (taking to my college reunion but the weather is gonna stink) at J Crew factory (store is right nearby). Full price listed- $49.50. I paid $14.95.

I think everybody likes to think they got a good deal, so stores like to show a high retail price. Marketing tactic.

Enjoy the college reunion!

In the case of JCrew, I think they actually sell their stuff at full price at least some of the time. I’m not sure about the factory version.
Now if you were talking Kohl’s
 different story.

Yep. It’s kinda like tuition discounting. Post a higher full price and then offer a scholarship. Feels better than just a lower tuition.

Kohls is the store I have a love/hate relationship with. I read that they fired their CEO and the new one is doing away with petites. If so, they have lost me as a customer (though I really don’t buy clothes from there- just a sweater or tshirt. ) But I just sent 6 mugs to my older s and DIL. They were discounted to about a dollar a mug! But I had to pay shipping (which cost more than the mugs!)

Oh dear. I’ll not like that. With their volumes, they should be able to justify Petite sizes
at least online if not at the stores.

We could start a whole thread about Kohls. Really. I haven’t found a good buy there in many years.

I’m kindof liking my $2.40 Gloria Vanderbilt jeans (light/bright green), bought on clearance last year.

I do like those mugs I got for the kids. They really were only about a dollar a mug maybe $1.12. But shipping was eight dollars so it cost me seven dollars for the six mugs and eight dollars for the shipping. Normally I get free shipping, so I’m not quite sure what happened

I haven’t even been into Kohl’s in years, and that was to return an Amazon package.
When my kids were young, we lived near a Sears and a Kohl’s. I got a bunch of clothes for them, I’m going to say Carter’s brand, but something like that. Every piece was originally tagged about a dollar more at Kohl’s that Sears, and each piece was probably less than ten bucks at the time. So then they would have their 30% off sale, and Sears would only have maybe 20, and people would assume Kohl’s was cheaper
 hmmm
I do remember it was great when Kohl’s would let you use their % off coupons for things that other places wouldn’t - I think I got my first Dyson stick vacuum from them because of that.

I’m starting a Kohls thread.

Go for it, but I think a little wandering within the existing thread is fine.

Talking about kohls is fine to me within this topic. I don’t see a point in creating another when this conversation will go it’s course in a day or so

I only go into kohls myself to shop at Sephora because we don’t have a stand alone store where I’m at.

My dil loves Kohls, I think she buys a lot of kids clothes therr
