I am the mom of a very active, messy boy (well, young adult now.) I spent years sweeping up red dirt from his baseball pants and cleats, laundering said pants, and tripping over all kinds of sport paraphernalia, boy scout camping gear, empty glasses, school books, papers, etc. It drove me nuts, but I adore this kid and “Embrace the mess” was my mantra his senior year, because I knew that while my house would be much cleaner and neater once he left the roost, I would miss him to pieces!

I chose my name because I joined CC at a particularly stressful time with my D. It is also the title of a 1979 coming of age film involving teen rebellion in suburbia. My H, who jokingly (?) calls me “wacky woman” would say the name fits for other reasons too - lol.

Place and year of my college graduation. I wish they still had geographical location capabilities.

Not hard to guess my undergrad major

I think I explained the choice in the earlier thread: I named myself after a piece of lab junk.

I didn’t want anything that my kids might potentially recognize as me if they ever got on cc. So I chose my favorite season and added girl. Didn’t think about other meanings at the time.

Mine is a nod to the sports team that the kid was playing for at the time. It seems to be timeless, however, as kid #1 attends a St. school and kid #2 is off to NOLA. And no . . . it has nothing at all to do with football.

Pretty obvious, I think. All 3 kids were competitive runners at the time I joined CC. More years later than I can count, S1 runs marathons, S2 thinks running is a necessity only if there is a fire, and D1 prefers spinning and yoga to pounding the pavement!

Obvious from my avatar - Scout comes from my favorite movie and says nothing about baseball (although I like baseball) or Girl Scouts (although I was one). I also had a great cat named Scout.

My screen name was a stupid choice that relates to nothing - vaguely related to something in my professional life. I don’t even like pizza all that much! Call me PG

I believe mine is self-explanatory if combined with my avatar. :o3

I had trouble coming up with something that no one I know would figure out who I was so I went with the generic HS grad years since I knew I would be mentioning D15 and S18 in anything I posted. I took my cue from you @1214mom, though I didn’t know if your name was HS or college grad years.

…although after reading @BunsenBurner 's explanation (“lab junk”), I’m thinking of changing my name to “rotovap.”

Is it just me? on the one hand, I feel like someone could put “JohnSmithfromIndiana” as his username and I would have no idea who he is (or really care). What are the chances I would know that person?

On the flip side, I can totally relate to the statement. I feel like someone is going to know exactly who I am with any tiny bit of information. I often think twice about what I write.

At the time I created my username, I worked at a university and wrote SQL queries pertaining to college data. Plus I was on CC to ask questions about the college admissions process.

Name of pet (don’t ask). Strangely, someone (Italian food lover?) had already claimed “Gnocchi” so I added the B. Wish I had thought to use MahnaMahna to match my profile pic.

I’m loving this thread.

My first name plus the first initial of my surname. (Or perhaps it isn’t!) But even assuming it is, and even though I’ve spoken about a lot of personal stuff here over the years (most recently in one particular thread), I’ve never said anything that it would bother me very much for people to know, or that people could use against me. Nor have I revealed anything about my son that he isn’t open about. So if anyone ever took the trouble to try to figure out who I am, I would think it was rather strange but otherwise wouldn’t really care.

My kids initials combined with their birth dates. I was trying to not be too obvious when I thought it up. Love reading the background stories!

happymom was already taken.

prettyobvious

My first chat room experience was a site for parents of Rotary exchangers, and the parents all identified by geography. My state was taken, so I found a name with the area. Though I live in a Great Lake state, I don’t especially identify as a Midwesterner, having lived till age 30 in the west and southwest.
