New Topic: Extracurriculars…

New topic: 7 courses you are dying to take at Yale!
If you don’t yet have a blue book, they’re listed online :)

@ OneKing You’re too early! New topic: Master’s tea

edit: aww, pianista beat me to it. I don’t mind, her/his topic’s better :D

…

areyouseriouss, k good making sure i wasn’t being hated on
btw, I WIN
(and lose, 'cause i guess i can’t get out of that old habit of losing the game whenever i win)

oops. Sorry. I was misinformed. All I knew was the the Spizzwinks usually consist of underclassmen, and Whiffenpoofs of Seniors, and that you had to be tapped to be a Whiffenpoof (as well as a Spizz) so I made that logical leap. would it be more accurate to say that SOME members of the Spizzwinks MAY become Whiffenpoofs? :)

Wait can anyone give a link to the blue book?

limetime- venn diagram! :D

onekingonelife- everything’s here: [Yale College Programs of Study | Yale College Publications | Yale College](<a href=“Yale College”>Yale College)
you have to click into the subjects though. i’ve also seen another page; i think through the visitor site that gives an interactive version… i’m looking for that right now.

[edit:]
here : [Yale Online Course Information | Search Courses](<a href=“Yale Course Search | University Registrar's Office”>Yale Course Search | University Registrar's Office)

:D

20 points for a sweet (and first) topic pianista!!

I’ll have to blue book sometime today and come up with a great post.

Hopefully DS only counts as one course lol

Modern British Drama <- They have modern ones, o rly?

New Homiletic <- ?

History of Life <- Curious

African Poverty & Western Aid <- I wonder if one causes the other… hm… YEP.

Individual Study: Geol&Geophys <- hm, how do they do individual studies?

Systems Cell Biology <- interesting

Hydraulics&Pneumatics <- in the drama section, lol.

Modern Poetry <- personal obsession

Daily Themes <- probably the coolest writing course ever, you write like 300 words a day on a certain assignment.

Stochastic Processes <- very related to my research now

Applied Functional Analysis <- oooo ooo ooo fourier maybe?

Introduction to Conducting <- something I’ve always wanted to do

Photography and Memory: Public and Private Lives <- part of the study in Beijing program

Readings in Classical Chinese Poetry <- long story :)

and individual studies and readings are like (at least, i think they’re like) what i’m doing in school right now (independent study), you plan out a “course” with a professor with a syllabus and whatnot, and you go through with it. basically if Yale doesn’t offer the course, you can create it and get someone to help you through it a bit. :)

and Hydraulics&Pneumatics
NICE +50! :D

James Joyce’s Ulysses: I love this book.

The Metaphysics of Fiction: This just sounds so damn fun.

Essential Heresies: With a name like that, what’s not to love?

Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Faulkner: Sounds good to me.

Visual Culture in Literature, Drama, and Film: Starting to figure out that I love the humanities yet?

British Cinema: Vague enough that it could be really interesting.

Geometry of Nature: Looks like the only math course that wouldn’t eat me alive.

bump? i like this topic a lot…

Me too! bump.

1) Reading and Writing the Modern Essay (I’m definitely taking tons more writing courses than this. I also want to take some literature courses but only if they’re discussion-based. Otherwise, I could do it on my own.).
2) Spoken Standard Arabic II (WHAT HAPPENED TO # 1???)
3) Principles of Human Genetics (I LOVE genetics. Period.)
4) Epidemics and Western Society Since 1600 (Mixes history and science–could be fun…?)
5) Introduction to Psychology (Always wanted to take this but had no room in my schedule. :()
6) Social Psychology (Psychoanalyzing the masses is one of my favorite solitary pursuits. Why not do it in a legit class?)
7) Structure and History of English Words (I love words. I love English. I like history. Get it?)

haha sunshineyday, +20, I want to take 1 too… I got a list of 40 courses (5 course/semester load for 8 semesters) that I really want to take, and that was one of the last cut to make the list that I posted. :)

another +20 to sunshineyday for loving genetics! =) haha genetics = awesome.

anyway, here’s mine. it took a while, and would probably change 10 times within the week haha. :)

Molecular Mechanisms of Microbial Pathogenesis - learning about how diseases infect us sounds interesting, and if i end up getting involved in research that would be a pretty cool field.

African Poverty and Western Aid - want to learn about this global issue, and if?/how? we as outsiders can help without screwing everything up.

Fascism in Theory and Practice - idk. sounds really interesting.

The Formation of Modern American Culture, 1920 to the Present - this sounds fun!

Linear Algebra with Applications - because i’m a math nerd! haha had to have one math class in here, even though their titles aren’t as cool. =P

The Organic Chemistry of Life Processes - because i’m suicidal? jk, i loved loved loved AP chem (nerd moment again!) so i’m not scared by organic chem…at least not yet. haha. and i think it’s cool how the class relates it to actual applications in living organisms (or at least that’s what i assumed from the title lol).

Intensive Elementary Spanish - I always wanted to learn Spanish!!! but my guidance counselor was all like, noo take five years of the same language if you want to go to a good college. =( latin is so useless. but hopefully it will help me pick up spanish really fast once i get to college!
