^ EXcellent

Wow other Gruggenheim Grotto fans? Awesome, I like Cold Truth better than Philosophia though

ugh. fine, we can agree to disagree about the eargasm that is SilverSun Pickups
Saw them live as well, and they were amazing.

BTW, Iron & Wine/Sam Beam is probably the most amazing thing you will ever see live, or close to it. When I saw him, he was already in his big band stage, with backup guitarists, a drummer, keyboardist…etc. Their improvisation blew my mind. Same with Mars Volta. They only played 3 tracks in a 2 hour show LOL

P.S. I felt the need to post the lyrics of Philosophia here. Pretty profound stuff.

When we’re young, we set our hearts upon some beautiful idea
Maybe something from a holy book or French philosophia
Upon the thoughts of better men than us, we swear by and decree a
Perfect way to end the war of ways the only way to be a…

Work of art, oh to be a work of art

But in time, a thought comes tugging on the sleeve edge of our minds
Perhaps no perfect way exists at all, just many different kinds
Oh but if it’s just a thing of taste, then everything unwinds
For without an absolute how can the absolute define…

A work of art, oh to be a work of art

^ Or John Mclaughlin/ The Mahavishnu Orchestra <—absolute demigods of improv and jazz rock.

oh, and amen to the Omar comment. Their drummer is disgusting, too (in a good way). It’s ridiculous.

I find it funny that Dallas is also the lead singer of Alexisonfire, which is so NOTTTT acoustic hahaha

ahhh 10 songs? I’m doing 15, deal.
I’m not including classic rock cause that would not work, but of modern stuff (in no particular order):

Crack the ShuttersSnow Patrol

Mr. BrightsideThe Killers

Fluorescent AdolescentArctic Monkeys

Lights Out For Darker SkiesBritish Sea Power

Red Morning LightKings of Leon

Hospital BedsCold War Kids

Take Me OutFranz Ferdinand

Bittersweet SymphonyThe Verve

Calm Like YouThe Last Shadow Puppets

Jigsaw Falling Into PlaceRadiohead

ReptiliaThe Strokes

Under The BridgeRed Hot Chili Peppers

Oxford CommaVampire Weekend

Ghost of Corporate FutureRegina Spektor

Don’t Look Back in AngerOasis

^ Word to KoL and CWK. BOOOOO to The Killers. they’re major sell-outs :p

and why would classic rock not work? blasphemy! haha

Led Zeppelin is always delicious, but I tend more toward the blues with electric guitar, like Jimi Hendrix and SRV. Modern guitar gods like Joe Satriani, Joe Bonamassa, and Omar actually, are always good.

I saw KoL in concert in Minneapolis earlier this year… was AWESOME, arctic monkeys are good too, and I still like most of the killers older stuff

hahaahah someone put the trickster by radiohead, props for the old school b-sides.

But minus points for coldplay and pretty much everything else

WORD, The killers are a bunch of twats, no way I am seeing them at Coachella. Better bands like Brian Jonestown Massacre ~_~

I have listened to the lesser known stuff, and by no means are there any “gems”. I can deal with a few songs on parachutes/rush of blood to the head, but even then I cannot really imagine myself listening to them on my own volition when I have soooo many other options. And their last two albums were trash so thats about it there.

Edit: Sigur Ros’s last album sucked. In Rainbows was a tad disappointing, disc 2 had a few good tracks like down is the new up

New animal collective album isn’t bad, just I miss the old days with Avey Tare and Panda being crazier in the music. But the album is still pretty good overall just a bit more mellow.

ALSOOOOOOOOO the lead singer of the cramps died yesterday which sucks but I would be amazed if anyone in the high school life section knew who they were. Prolly would have to post about this in the LAC section to get decent responses :D

@sigurros

Yeah, the B Sides are the gems. But what do you mean minus points to everything else? Gorillaz MGMT Coldplay Daft Punk Oasis They are all golden bands of their genre of rock. But I wasn’t surprised until you said that for The Beatles. In fact, I’m surprised no one else has the Beatles. Greatest band ever.

And yes, the killers are sellout twats. Terrible band.

Meh, I’ve always thought the Beatles were a little overrated, and I don’t particularly enjoy any of those other bands other than a few songs by MGMT

People who think the Beatles don’t deserve all the acclaim they get don’t appreciate their music. Sit down someday and just listen to their music. It’s great.

if I did the beatles, smiths, etc. I’d need like 20 more spots so that would be pointless

Hot Fuss era is still good music.

contrastingly, I like Coldplay’s new stuff.

classic rock wouldn’t work because there’d be too many songs then! haha, so i’m actually agreeing with you I think

oh and MGMT is pretty good I saw them live with Beck but I actually haven’t gotten around to getting any songs yet

haha nah i love the beatles, i dig mgmt, and I can’t REALLY dislike Oasis either ;)

But daft punk is bleh, the gorrillaz are .5(bleh) and yah Ive already discussed coldplay
