Just to update all of the UT Austin hopefuls, D go in this afternoon. Got email and its posted on their site

mapri111 – congrats to your D! I know what a great feeling it is, and such a relief. If this was her true first choice, you are now both sitting in clover.

eeddssxx – I feel your pain. D was WL at 4 schools. This ugly process is only prolonged by waiting to hear. Have you done all those things everyone told my D (emailing to confirm your interest, telling them you’ll forgo your deposit, etc.?) Those 3 schools are top top schools so they can afford to be choosy. I have not heard anything but on another thread, someone gave up their spot at Princeton, so here’s hoping it opens up a spot for you.

Best wishes. Hope it’s all over soon.

Stanford sent out their emails today releasing their waitlist students so they won’t be using the waitlist this year.

Well, for what it’s worth, I know most people on here are concerned about prestigious private/liberal arts schools, but I got accepted off of UW’s waitlist today. So I guess that means they’ll be accepting more.

@IBWarrior: I thought the stanford email was ambiguous. It said “we have started the process of releasing…” That leaves the possibility that they may keep a few students on the waitlist and may indeed admit a small number.

oh
oh well. funny, i didn’t get any notification of that (although i didn’t get their original waitlist email either i had to call them so not that surprising)

Adding Stanford: One student from our school got off Stanford’s waitlist yesterday so it looks like they will be using their waitlist this year after all.

Harvard is definitely going to their WL according to the Crimson.

[Higher Yield Means Few Waitlist Admissions | News | The Harvard Crimson](Higher Yield Means Few Waitlist Admissions | News | The Harvard Crimson)

I called UPenn again today and was given different info. Was told they have NOT moved to waitlist yet and expect to start next week and continue into Will notify by email and may also call. So it seems nothing is verifiable. My apologies.

^^
It’s okay. This happens. WL is so fluid! And honestly I feel bad for the admissions people. We have a world full of kids applying to 20 or more schools in some cases. This isn’t the fun part of the process for admissions, either. Not so long ago it was a big deal to apply to more than 5, which gave them better ability to forecast who might accept and most knew they were settled by May 1. I have no doubt that they don’t do this on purpose, it’s just that things change, and they are probably working with a committee and what was discussed that morning, can change by the end of the day! I know you spoke in good faith!

I can confirm the Brown WL movement a bunch of people including me got off :)

Congrats to all getting off waitlists. I hope you are all previously committed to the school that my S wants to get in off their waitlist! :0

I can now safely say that Columbia has gone to waitlist and i have no idea what to decide!! Good luck to everyonee!

dlambi,

Congrats!!!
Can we ask which school(s) you are deciding on along with Columbia? Good luck!
