2011 Going off their waitlist

For all of you that have been through the waiting list game before, or just know more about it than I, do you think we are at the end of the notifications? Do most schools send some type of communication to waitlisted students to let them know there will be no movement? My daughter who is waitlisted is my oldest, and in 4 years when I get to do this again times 3 for my triplets, HS class of 2015, I sincerely hope that none of the 3 get waitlisted. The stress is too much for this mom.

Does anyone know if the University of Miami is still taking students off their waitlist or if they are done?

latestar–regarding your post that the university of miami is done with their waitlist… do you know if this is true?

I’m not sure the Princeton add is accurate yet. One person posted here that a friend got a call. That’s it. One person. At the same time, over on the Princeton board there are several WL related threads and no one there has indicated getting a call or knowing anyone who did. SOmeone posted that they spoke with princeton admissions who said they wouldn’t make calls until June, and they anticipated no more than 12.

With single posts of conflicting info, who is to say which is accurate?

@NorthernM

I’ve heard (from a past admissions rep) that they usually accept more OOSers from their waiting list, so my guess is that they’re just still working on calculating their OOS yield.

Girl at school is off the waitlist at Middlebury. Use of waitlists is definitely increasing based on anecdotal reports.

Columbia’s waitlist keeps moving… :)

Just read on the Bucknell thread that someone’s friend got off the waitlist a week ago.

wondering if Columbia SEAS waitlist is still moving

According to the Smith College board they will not be going to their wait list due to max enrollment.

The following was posted on the Smith board so we are not giving up hope here.

“I talked to an admission counselor today, and she said they were not sure yet if they are going to go to their waitlist, but if they do it will only be a few students since they got a “healthy” response from their rd women. She also said that we should know within the next two weeks.”

Just maybe if they take a few, they will take my daughter…I can hope and have pipe dreams, correct?

Just after I posted previous post, snail mail delivered a letter from Smith saying they are not going off of the waiting list. They are full.Good luck to all that this affects.

Emah24 – best wishes to your wonderful daughter. Smith’s loss is another school’s gain.

My daughter got off the Elon wait list yesterday…she is ecstatic! Thanks to everyone who has offered such wonderful insight and encouragement…wishing all of our grads bright futures!

Georgia Tech has declared its freshman class is full and closed the waitlist—this from my son’s application status page. He’s already moved on, happy to be attending Oxford/Emory. (People are still anxiously waiting to hear from Emory, while an Oxford rep said their freshman class is full).

This Week, the University of Georgia announced that it was closing the waitlist after taking only 10 students off it. This was a shock to many applicants, since UGA typically takes hundreds off its waitlist, however this year they opted for a larger class and admitted several hundred more students to begin with. That, coupled with a relatively high yield, means they barely touched the list.

A poster on the Bates thread reports “knowing a girl” that just got off the wait list.

My son, who is attending next year, told me yesterday someone got off.

Congrats to those accepted! To those with less than great news, just remember, you may, in fact, be too cool for that school. Certainly, you are super talented and will be very much appreciated by the school you attend! Thanks to all who keep adding to the thread!
