Oh. I guess I was just confused because some people got the notifications in February. I just want to know! I’m sure I will be rejected, but you need that peace of mind…

Ah, gotcha. Yeah I think they’re sending them out in a big batch this year. And as always, all the interviews happen around the same time so that all the candidates can be evaluated fairly against one another instead of a first-come first-serve type thing.

Son received the interview invitation via email today. It’s been a long wait… Good luck everyone.

Daughter got invite too - anyone have any idea what these interviews are like?

They’re one-on-one with someone from UHC (either the dean or one of the advisors). They’ll basically just talk to you (about your essay and other things). I can’t remember if they’re 30 minutes or an hour (or just until they feel like ending).

I’m basing that off of what my friends (Chancellor’s Scholars) told me about their own interviews.

Hi, couple of questions.
- Was the interview invite email sent to the Pitt email account, or a personal email account?
- For those who were invited to interview, what is the status of your application on the application website? Submitted, or in process?

Daughter is now out of town for EC trip - I’ll see her Tuesday night and will ask.

Pretty good guess that the email went to the personal email account because she was out at a movie with friends when she texted me about it.

Congratulations to FromMD’s S and Jakeami’s D! Best of luck with the interview.

No e-mail here but no worries. Acceptances from U Chicago and Northwestern did come Friday. :)

SteveC - Thank you.

Congrats to your son’s admit to CH and NW. Very impressive.

Hearty congratulations indeed to those who got the interview email! It’s quite an honor to make it that far. No email here, but, like SteveC, we’re very pleased with the way this application season turned out. Good look to all of you!

Yes! Congratulations to Jake and MD!! That’s wonderful!
No email here, either.

Steve, I know Pitt was high on your son’s list. Now with these other two great options, has he shifted gears?

We have a rough idea of the finances involved and Pitt is still the low-cost option, and a very good one for what he wants to do. On the other hand, he told me he’d been admitted to Chicago in the same voice I heard him tell me he’d made all-state band. I think just about everything is back on the table now. April will be fun.

My daughter chose Pitt over Chicago. Pitt definitely saved us big bucks because at Chicago we would have been full pay. She is finishing her junior year and has enjoyed the flexibility Pitt has given her for exploring dual majors…though she swings between wanting to complete both majors and not.

Good luck with the decision season and best wishes to those attending interviews.

They are starting to mail (regular) not selected for an interview letters. My son received his this afternoon (West Coast). Good luck to those still waiting.

Anyone still waiting for the final decision?

We got our “Thanks but no thanks,” letter today finally. They must have sent them out in waves, as we live much closer to Pitt than freein2012.

I hope some of those who got interviews will report back on the experience. I’d be very interested to read how it goes.

I don’t think you will see interview posts given the interview is still on-going. We were told interview process will continue until next Friday (4/13) and, therefore, it may not be appropriate to post anything specifics about the interview (yet).

We (my S and I) were there this week. It was our first trip to Pitt and really enjoyed just walking around and talking to students. As for the interview itself, it was longer than I expected - 1hr and 20 min.

has anyone who went and interviewed received a decision (yes or no) yet? I thought they said that they were aiming to finish by april 15th, but then again there was the possibility of having interviews during this week.

Not that I would know for sure, but interviews have to be done by next Saturday (4/28) because that is the last day of term (Commencement is on Sunday). So, there is a definitive end date.

Nothing like waiting to the last minute to notify kids when the decision date for most schools is May 1. Pitt really dragged it out this year.
