2012 Elks MVS Scholarship

Nervousohio, yeah you’re right. Only the school’s grants will decrease if your scholarships excees your contribution, self-help, and need.

I’m finished with the secondary! Wary about submitting it, though. Does anyone know how to change the way the essay is formatted on the “review app” page? No matter how I format it, my essay just shows up as one big paragraph…

i am from ohio… we have only heard we have advanced locally and disctricts, anyone else from ohio heard more if they were declined or advanced?

msbehringer,

I’m from Ohio and recieved notification on Monday that I am a national finalist. I have friends who also applied who have not heard anything yet though.

And for anyone who’s done the secondary, is it long? What all is a part of it?

I’m the national finalist, but I have not gotten any notification from district. I know that sometimes, they give you scholarships before forwarding the application to next level. Do you guys think I should contact my district Elks foundation?

The secondary just asks you which college you plan to go to, have you been accepted, grants/scholarships received with amounts and how many years, and 1 500-word essay on basically why they should give you a scholarship and not one of the other 499 outstanding national finalists. They also ask you to mail in your SAR and a teacher recommendation form .

I have not been notified of rejection or a prize yet. I received two letters saying I had moved on the to next level of judging. On the first letter, they gave me a one time $500 scholarship. Do you know when they will notify me? How stretched out is the notification process?

4903abcd, I think you should contact your local Elks lodge at this point? Just say a friend of yours heard and you’re curious.

Danhvu, I don’t know how stretched out it is, but I have numerous friends who haven’t heard either way yet. Congrats on moving on and receiving the $500 though!

Just out of curiousity, have any guys heard back? I’m a girl and none of my male friends have heard anything back so I’m wondering if they sent the results for the girls out but not the guys? Maybe?

National finalist :)

$750 Local scholarship

  • $400 Regional scholarship
  • $4000+ National scholarship
    = $5150+

This scholarship is awesome.

@karaokemachine

That’s awesome! I’m a national finalist too, but I haven’t gotten anything from the district. Did you get them through mail?

THANK YOU ELKS FOUNDATION for a tasty dinner and a nice financial gift. :)

@ymlee822 It depends on your district. Not all districts give monetary awards on top of the national finalist award.

@seniorsfo My local Elks’ Lodge is having the dinner in May :)

How do we obtain the SAR from FAFSA?
Do we just print out the SAR that we got after submitting to colleges and mail it with the application??

or do we submit the FAFSA to Elks Foundation?

You mail the SAR to ENF.

Received a call from my district head today. Found out that I made it all the way to state, but didn’t move on from there. I received $1,200 though and was invited to my lodge’s dinner in May!

Hey guys, you check out your posted names on the Elks website by clicking on past scholars and then searching in the year 2012. :)

That’s so cool! I’m honored to have my name listed there!

When do we find out the final results?

I applied back in December and haven’t heard anything yet. No rejection either. Do you think they lost my application?

Wasn’t the deadline for the scholarship at the end of October?
