2012 Elks MVS Scholarship

“On behalf of the Elks National Foundation Trustees and our staff in Chicago, I’d like to congratulate you on winning a 4,000.00 Most Valuable Student scholarship, to be issued over the 2012-13 through 2015-16 academic years.”

Congrats to everyone!

sorry for the last post, but I was wondering if anyone knows how much financial need is considered for the Elk’s MVS. On wikipedia, it says that applicants are eligible if their household is less than $93,000. Can any winners or applicants confirm this? thanks :)

Currently working on the application. On the Community Service Section, every time I type my total hour on the 7th row it doesn’t add up to my grand total hours of service. Does anyone know how to fix this?

We are writing in our answers to the Elks application. It said print or type. Hopefully it won’t matter? I am very concerned about any mistakes because the scholarship states something like you won’t get any points in the section if it is not filled out properly! I only have to copy my artifacts and get my folder all together. My dad and I will take my folder to our local ELKs on Tuesday

Contests to all who completed applications!

Well, the deadline is over for this scholarship. Based on last year’s posts, many people will find out pretty quickly if they got money through their local Elks’ clubs and are moving on to the next level of competition. I will admit, dropping my app off was a throw back to my grandpa, who used to spend his pretty much every night at the Elks before coming home for dinner and going to bed. I am thankful to this organization that they will give money to future college students! It is so cool. I would love to get some money, but wish good luck to anyone out there that applied!!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

How soon do you think we’ll start hearing back? ;o

I am thinking this week. I wonder how many applications each lodge gets. If it is only a few, then it wouldn’t take that long at all. If it is in the hundreds, then it will most likely take longer than a week. If your lodge only gets a few applicants, then the competition here isn’t that big, and either you get passed on to the next level, or possibly get a small scholarship from that particular lodge, and then get passed on as well. Every little bit helps, and I know so many people who have no idea what they are doing next year and haven’t even started thinking about scholarships! I hope that in this case I am the “early bird.”

I should be hearing about my status anytime between now and Jan. 7th, and my lodge is choosing at least 3 males and 3 females(not sure if most lodges also advance 6 applicants).

I’m still waiting to hear back as well.

I recently spoke to my local lodge and they said that I would hear back within the next week. I honestly think it all depends on your own lodge though. Each one will have a different number of applicants so how long it takes will differ. They were friendly when I gave them a call so it may not hurt to call and get an estimate so you know when you should be expecting to hear back.

Did anyone heard from ELK 2013 from MI local lodge?

Nothing yet here in upstate NY. Maybe after Christmas???

Nothing from my lodge either.

Has anyone heard anything back yet?

Still nothing :(
