*****2015 Launch and Endevvr Summer Programs*****

@dallascowboys1 Did you apply to regular or early?

does someone who got into Launch mind posting his/her stats? Thank you

Just got into MIT Launch!!! So excited!

@imakeapps Congratulations!!! Did you get an interview? And did you apply early?

Yes I had an interview a few weeks ago and yes, I applied early.

@imakeapps05‌ , can you please post your stats here?

Message me and I will send you my stats.

@imakeapps05‌ Are you gonna go to Endevvr or Launch?

Still undecided. Probably Launch because of it’s location at MIT.

@imakeapps05 how was your Launch interview? did they ask more personal interview questions about your application or did they ask general interview questions? and congratulations!

Also I applied early and got the email recently

If I don’t get an interview, does that mean I’m rejected?

Many people have written on this post about the differences between Launch and Endevvr in terms of size, duration, and location.

Other than that, I would be interested in hearing from alumni of Launch and Endevvr who are familiar with both programs about any differences in the format and types of activities.

On their website and blog, Launch says that teaching formats include interactive lectures, business simulations, entrepreneur panels, in addition to the actual design and launch of a company.

They seem to have a fairly academic format with regular lectures, in addition to the many hands-on activities.

Endevvr notes that they view themselves less as an enrichment or academic program, and more as a real business incubator.

For people who have attended Endevvr, does it use similar formats to those Launch describes? Are there any differences that stand out to you?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

I attended Endevvr last year, and it is an amazing program.

Endevvr’s unique curriculum, developed by a team of business experts, is taught in several modules throughout the session. As each new thing is taught, you have a chance to apply it to your business. While there is an “interactive lecture” element, most of the time is constant startup support. I found that Endevvr lives up to its description as a real incubator, but that I learned a ton from the lessons that is relevant to academics/high school as well.

The previous posts did a great job noting the difference between the programs, but, just a summary: Endevvr has:
-smaller class size
-several mentors who work with you throughout the summer—and afterward. I’m sure you can imagine how crucial mentorship is when you’re creating a company!
-5 weeks (as opposed to only 4 at other programs) which especially help with identifying the purpose of your business (not just making one for the sake of making one).
-A network of friendly and collaborative alumni who are invaluable resources for tech, startup, and business questions of all kinds!

For you, and ANYBODY WHO HAS QUESTIONS:
Endevvr is hosting a live Q and A session! It’s a perfect place to ask all of your questions and meet some of the Endevvr team. Here’s a blurb that they released:

What: Exploring Endevvr Weekend, a two-part YouTube live session where Martin (Managing Director), Camille (Chief of Staff Advisor), and others will answer any questions potential students might have about Endevvr and how to be a part of Endevvr Class of 2015.
When: Saturday, February 28th- 4pm EST and Sunday, March 1st- 7pm EST
Where: Go to www.endevvr.com/explore to view the session. You can live tweet your questions to @endevvr or send them via the You Tube live chat feature.
Why: Because we’re sure you’ve got questions and we’re positive we’ve got the answers!

I hope this helps ! Good luck.

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in to Launch from early admissions! There seems to have been quite a few  I was just wondering if anyone knows approx. how many places are usually given out in the early admissions and how many are held back for those of us who were a bit slower off the mark and applied for the regular deadline?

Does everyone accepted get an interview? And if you don’t get one you are rejected?

@anliu1999‌ - Even I would like to know how the process works… Anyone, any idea?

@coolab lol did you get your interview?

I would also like to hear about the experiences of people who attended both Launch and Endevvr…it seems like a lot of people attended Launch first, then went to Endevvr their second year to grow the company. Also, Endevvr emphasizes that it’s a “startup incubator” and does not want to be an academic/enrichment program. In that case, does it mean Launch is a better place to create a foundation in entrepreneurship then come up with an idea and actually launch the company, while Endevvr is better suited for helping early stage businesses of people who are already somewhat experienced with entrepreneurship grow more?

@potatoz‌
Not sure how you got that people went to Launch then Endevvr. I doubt anyone attended both in separate years.

You cannot go to Endevvr to grow a business. That’s Catapult, not Endevvr.

Except for some slight difference in wording, I see no evidence that Launch is more academic either.

Honestly, these mere speculations have really been blown up.

Of course you can go to Endevvr to grow a business…who’s stopping you from goign there to improve on a previous business that you started very recently that you wish to make a serious company? Just because some people start new companies at Endevvr doesn’t mean you HAVE to start a new company there. There are companies who went through endevvr after already being in an early stage, just to grow bigger at endevvr.

Anymeal: started at Launch in 2013, then went to Endevvr later. (their iphone app was published through endevvr)
Essace: Launch 2013; lists “Launch” as its incubator but is also listed as Endevvr alumnus
There are also other companies like Didomi and Unbounded that are listed on both launch and endevvr sites (Unbounded is no longer on endevvr’s site though, guessing that it’s inactive now).

Please feel free to provide sources for your own facts before saying you’re not sure how I got mine. It’s interesting that you’re calling me out on “mere speculations” when you yourself stated earlier that you thought Endevvr was the better program because it’s smaller (not necessarily true) and has more press coverage (which you still haven’t proven yet). You also stated:

Again, I’m not trying to start an argument, and I respect your opinion. However I would really appreciate it if you would take some time to research before calling me out on things I said, and provide your own sources so we can constructively discuss the two programs instead of turning this into “mere speculation”. From my previous comment, I was not claiming anything about Endevvr or Launch, just hoping that past alumni can help clarify my questions.
