2016 and beyond wedding moms and dads (Part 2)

Be sure to give us a recap of the wedding! What part of the country??

I felt bad for the brides from last weekend who had weddings interrupted by all the marches passing by the beautiful downtown churches. There just isn’t enough room to take pictures if the streets are blocked and people are trying to stay on the sidewalks. Pretty hard to even exit the church

But I also feel sorry for all the (daytime) brides this weekend. It’s supposed to be 101 degrees tomorrow! The church we attended when my kids were little still doesn’t have A/C.

So much for the June weddings.

I don’t know, knowing both my daughters and their significant others I think they would have been proud of those marches and even joined the line in their dresses for a moment or two!

Pictures can get taken in lots of places. Weddings are for memories and the marches sure are a marker of present time, 2025.

I think couples often have bumps along the wedding planning and execution road. My nephew and nieceIL had covid postpone their wedding for several YEARS! They still made the best of it and had a lovely celebration. My other niece had courthouse wedding because her H was a military officer and his term was coming up and they wanted to remain together. They’re still happily married with a toddler and two lovely labs and a gorgeous house!

I was at the Chicago rally. We passed 3 different brides and grooms taking pictures. The ones who were close to the action seemed thrilled as literally tens of thousands waived to them. One set was above the river and you could see them reposition for their photographs to be able to capture the historic event. One couple also across the river on a balcony, themselves waived to the crowds giving a royal family sort of vibe.

Ok I feel better. I’m in the big city at macys trying on stuff. These are all 12 except the royal blue is an 8. They all zip! But they’d need to be altered in the waist and stuff. But thoughts on these? I sort of like them all. I like the gray better than I thought, but I might could go smaller to start with as I could just pull that off. The black I wouldn’t get because of the color, but it’s a designer I liked online and a similar style to what I liked online, but I didn’t see here. I’m also two months from my last hair dye job. I need it to look good next weekend. But it looks pretty rough today.

The second dress is my favorite! All
Look great though.

I think you should take advantage of your stellar arms (and back) and go sleeveless. Sleeveless looks so good on you!

Easier for someone to alter something too big than too small!!

I just feel so much better that I will be able to find something! It was stressing me out. I would be happy enough with any of them, but the black and gray ones are probably my favorites

The more I look at the grey, the more I like it (especially from the back if that’s a view others will get of you!) Not a fan of all the gold on the black; it seems a bit distracting to me. I do like the long blue from the front but it’s a quieter look.

Number 2 is my favorite and a show stopper. I like the navy dress. I think the last dress is ok but the others are better suited for your figure.

Agree—love #2 most but all look lovely! The #2 is most distinctive and memorable.

The black is a great style for you.
Have you been asked to wear a certain color/do you know what the colors of bride’s maids dresses will be?

Bridesmaids are wearing pink. Not sure of the shade or even if they’ve been selected. Bride loves pink - and sparkles! MOB is looking at navy, possibly floral. Navy was my first choice, and while she said she didn’t care if I wore navy, I’m not sure I’d feel right in it too.

And I am “just” the MOG, so I’m not sure how much I really want to stand out vs the MOB. We will be coordinating more when the time gets a little closer. Wedding is end of April in the early evening. Outdoors as long as the weather is good. They have room indoors where the reception will be if it rains.

Your blue dress reminds me of my MOG dress. I’m sure whatever you decide on will be great. I sent the photo to the bride and she was happy with he wearing it. The dress looks lius more of a royal blue. It isn’t as dramatic as #2 with the embroidery but lovely too. I didn’t want to stand out too much either.

I like the sleekness of the first dress. Truly elegant!

I like #1, 2, and 4, but not #3. For ME, I’d pick #4 because I don’t really like long dresses and I do like sleeves (again for ME). I think the long dresses look very nice.

At both daughters’ weddings this past year, I wore short dresses and the MOGs wore long (and much fancier than mine). Both daughters told guests to wear whatever they wanted to (although one was all black, but she didn’t care long, short, pants I also hosted the rehearsal dinners and the grooms’ parents paid for other things. That’s what worked for us.

I know nothing about this company, and am not recommending it, but a blue that’s not navy or a color that would go with it in a dress like this would be great for you.

lol. Thats the first one (pictures upthread) that I tried that wouldn’t zip! I did love the dress. I posted pictures of the navy version but I also got the other blue a size smaller.

That is funny. I remember now - the return PIA with them! I hope it worked out OK.
Well, clearly that’s the style I favor for you.
