In our family, one eats cake for breakfast! The perks of celebrating a birthday, or living with someone celebrating a birthday!
I’d be much more likely to buy a smaller round cake. My family aren’t big cake eaters. My D’s prefer ice cream cakes and my husband is super annoying and eats about a 1 inch slice of cake.
I’m disappointed that I missed out on getting a new patio umbrella this season.
I don’t know if it’s new or just new to me- frozen cauliflower rice. I was happy to see that it wasn’t just a huge bag but 4 smaller bags inside.
@mom60 I love that frozen cauliflower rice. Some people hate it but the trick is to cook the liquid down so it’s more “dry” and season it like crazy.
We are fonder of pies than cake but hate wasting. The Costco sheet cakes were always way too much cake for us, but nearly inevitable for end of season gatherings. I personally prefer individual pieces put into little cupcake holders or similar if it’s something I’m going to serve.
No idea if it is new at costco or just new-to-me, but my household now has a new Jura E8 espresso maker. I am so excited to give it to dh for his birthday this week! He has been asking for an espresso maker for years but it never made sense to me to spend that money. Now that we aren’t going to coffee shops, I can (sort-of) justify the expense. And the price was much better at costco than the on-sale price at other places.
A fancy espresso maker is my ultimate dream gift lol!
I have a very fancy espresso machine, and I use it every day.
It makes me very happy to have my 2 lattes with a tiny bit of hazelnut.
I bought one at Costco, but my latest, a Miele, came from elsewhere.
I know some people love Jura’s, but I tried one and it didn’t make drinks hot enough for me. I got one, and actually took it back and ordered another because I thought maybe there was something wrong with it. The second was the same. But different people look for different things. @carpoolingma, I hope your husband loves it as much as I love mine.
Or just make rice.
Some people simply don’t want/can’t eat the carbs in rice.
Slight digression, but recently my s’s told me that they were each given a $1000 grant from their employer to help set up a home office. I asked how the employer was monitoring what was being purchased by the employees, and one s. said “well, they are frowning upon high priced espresso makers and fountain pens”. I thought he was kidding, but I just looked up those Jura espresso makers, and … WHOA.
One son I think got a standing desk and the other a running desk (he used one at work constantly and really liked it).
@jym626 It is a crazy price. We will not be granted any money for it and we won’t be claiming it as a business expense. ?
@1214mom Good to know. I guess if the drinks aren’t hot enough for dh, that will be another reason to have purchased it at Costco - great return policy!
Our local Costco had individual bottles of sparkling Martinelli’s apple juice with raspberry, they call it “blush.” H and I split a bottle and liked it. The tartness of the raspberry offsets some of the sweetness of the apple.
We also got some mini biscotti in a jar. I’m not sure whether we will keep it—bought it for D to share with friends. It looks good but our family doesn’t snack much so probably would go stale before we could finish it.

Dare I ask… which one did you get? My birthday was 2 days ago (hence the 626). I am available for adoption
Oh yeah, yesterday we got two Costco throw pillows for our couch. It was $18 for a pair! Tough to match or beat that price! I’m not sure whether it not it’s a new product, but 1st time we purchased them.
I was joking to my family the other day that if Costco doesn’t sell it, I won’t be owning it for awhile. It’s sort of true! I’m been very much limiting my shopping venues since March. I sent my girls a picture of me wearing a skort and a linen like white hooded pullover - both purchased total under $20 - my caption was, “I’m doing my clothes shopping at Costco now too!”
.
I think I bought the same outfit! The skort I bought is “Cypress Club” brand and I think I like it better than the one I bought at Athleta last week for 4 times the price.
@jym626, I’m not sure which of us you’re asking, but I have this one, in black.
It’s over 5 years old now, and still working great. There are newer models I’d consider if I got a new one.

Many people LOVE their Jura’s also.
Sorry to confuse— I am happy to hear about both, but since @carpoolingma was buying hers as a birthday gift and I just had a birthday…
I am available for gift-giving
@jym626 I got him the Jura E8 - but it is already not available on the costco web site!
Yes, I’m happy Costco mostly has my size; I really like their quality and prices. It’s not so expensive that I have regrets when it’s time to refresh my wardrobe.

Not Costco LOL, but this is going to be our xmas present if employment is still a thing then.
If the jura doesn’t pan out, look for a normal machine as the MRSP for the jura is in the range for a good real, non automatic, machine, but I don’t know how cheap the costco version was?
