2020 Stocking Stuffers

So glad you posted the link. I had never heard of this. Got 2 tickets for D and her boyfriend for a fun date. The 55% off helps keep it in my stocking stuffer budget!

I picked up battery operated fairy lights at Aldi today for $3.99. Putting them in my D’s and DIL stocking. I love them too! I like put them in houseplants this time of year, hide the battery pack and then set the timer so they go on for 6 hours and off. So many places to use them!

I bought socks with motivational sayings (You’re Awesome, Be Amazing, etc) for my running buddies. They are $9.99 a pair from goneforarun.com. The socks would also be a good stocking stuffer for anyone who could use some encouragement or appreciation.

Does anyone have or use a ring light (selfie light) that clips to your phone or laptop? They seem like they’d be useful for zoom/facetime and would be inexpensive stocking stuffers.

My D would love this. Looked it up on Amazon. Not exactly a stocking stuffer though looks like a bigger box. Anyone have one they love?

I’d also be interested in some examples of a ring light.

Not a stocking stuffer, but a minor Chanukah gift (you say potato, I say potahto) - a bit of California. Sent to my son, niece, and nephew:

I’m giving away Christmas and other dish towels to help loved ones get into the holiday mood (none of us really are), as December marches along. Our local fabric store has some cute towels that have some cute appliquĆ©s on them, which make cute gifts. I’m writing checks for a lot of loved ones. It just seems easier and I am not very interested in shopping or stores.

Here’s an example of a ring light. I just searched online and it was the 1st hit. I have no personal experience.

Same @HImom. I’m trying but not really in the holiday spirit. It’s not the same shipping gifts.

It’s not to say that I’m in a bad mood, just not in a holiday mood.

Here, more houses have lights and decorations than usual. In the evenings, with it all lit, it really seems they’re trying to defy the covid slump. I was heartened.

My stocking staffers are set now. But it’s been a fun thread. Thanks.

I am the primary gift buyer in our house, and I too have had a hard time this year, with both stocking stuffers and bigger gifts. Our adult ā€œkidsā€ already know what their big gifts are, and they are used to getting practical things in their stockings.
Not going into stores has been both relaxing and stress inducing. I did go into Costco and got lots of the stocking stuffer things there. I’ve also been adding random things to our grocery cart.
One really positive thing we’ve done this year is we agreed to do ā€œbigā€ donations with the two families we normally exchange gifts with, instead of buying more ā€œstuffā€ we don’t need.

Stocking stuffers seem kinda silly when I’m not going to see anyone. I guess I will send the kids a box of stuff but it’s not the same.

That’s what we did! And also sent DH his small table top tree that was in his bedroom for years. @ChoatieMom I hope my package arrives in AZ tomorrow!!

Funny about the tabletop tree, @thumper1. We sent one to our son when he was in boarding school, and he took it with him to college and to GA. It’s a bit worse for the wear, but I believe it will be his only tree this year as he did not want to buy a full-size tree even though we offered to chip in. I think he’s hoping for a post-holiday sale on artificial trees. I sent his box earlier this week and am hoping it gets there in good shape. Fingers crossed for your package, too.

Anybody have recommendations for where to find a good silk pillow cover and eye mask gift set? I had seen a few on sale earlier but those are now sold out and the ones on Amazon are unappealing. TIA

I don’t know how much you want to spend but Bloomingdales has slip on sale 25% off right now. Friends and family @AnAsmom

I like that one but it is a bit out of the range for this particular gift. I may just have to revisit this idea. Thanks, @deb922.

Last year I posted about having a hard time finding a Farmer’s Almanac (I put one in H’s stocking every year) and finally seeing one at CVS…from 2015! Well, I was in CVS today picking up a prescription and decided to check. Sure enough there is still a 2015 Farmer’s Almanac there on a small rack near the door! LOL.
