2021-2022 USC Transfer

My parents wont let me attend is the main reason why, I did a financial aid appeal just in case

ā– ā– ā–  why. it’s one of the top schools in this country and you worked so hard to get in…

well, if you’re parents are paying for your college, you kinda have to listen to them otherwise I would follow your heart I guess

Yeah…

I’m sorry to hear that, I would try to talk to them on why you wanna go to USC above all else. Good luck, tough situation to be in.

They’re emotionally abusive and narcissists who want to maintain control, I already tried lol

I don’t know what to say man. I’m sorry to hear that.

@Tails07 @cua8ma That’s a good point, but I’m only planning get my bachelors.Grad school is not in my plans right now.

Marshall is a tough program to get into. If you really want USC then I would suggest hiring an admissions consultant to craft your essays and do EC’s this year to buff up your application. Tbh, I’m not sure how you didn’t get in. Your stats are better than mine so it shows how much of a crapshoot this process is.

I admire your level-headedness. I have saved for college since the day my children were born. It is why I can pay for their undergrad, med school, and whatever they wish to pursue. I do this gladly, but, even I want to retire at some point in time and I’ve always told them to please use common sense when decision time came around. In 2016, my daughter chose UCLA over Wellesley and did not regret it one bit. That $ 200 000 in savings now goes toward her tuition at the USC Keck School of Medicine. I am very grateful to her for doing that. I told my son I would foot the bill for USC if no comparable alternative materialized this transfer season. However, with UCLA and Berkeley on the table, he now chooses to attend the latter. That $95 000 will now go toward his grad school tuition. I appreciate both my kids for respecting the financial contribution I am making toward their future and not merely treating me as a bottomless bank.

It doesn’t make sense to go there for undergrad when I could get the same education and way cheaper at UCLA or Cal for example. It just makes sense for grad school.

I agree! With the quality alternatives you have, you will NOT regret it!

I got rejected at Viterbi, CS major yesterday, but luckily, I was still admitted at Dornlife Physics/Computer Science major. Does anyone know how hard it is to switch school to Viterbi after I got into USC?

Hey y’all,

Should I transfer and continue my studies at CSULB for Business or take more courses at my CCC and reapply to Marshall/Dornsife next year? My focus would be to complete more courses so I can branch out and extend my options to SDSU, UCI, UCB, UCLA, LMU (etc) & USC again ofc. I’d plan on hiring an admissions consultant so I can make my essays stronger this time around. What do y’all think? Also if I can maintain getting straight A’s…my gpa should rise to a 3.9+

Maybe you could offer your emotionally abusive, controlling, and narcissistic parents to make up the difference in tuition yourself? You could take out a loan to make up the difference in tuition with the school they are willing to pay for? Maybe they will be open to that?

Is there any way we can apply for TTP after being rejected?

No it’s an invite only program.

And it’s only for freshman applicants rejected when they apply out of high school.

Is it even worth to try for appeal? They only looked at my fall/winter quarters and i still have to finish my spring quarter where I’m finishing up the prereqs. I’m also on track to significantly improve my gpa this quarter.

You have to do what you want to do, just don’t let an appeal hold you mentally hostage. Keep in mind, they denied many many students with 4.0 gpa’s - we saw some of them on here. Improving a gpa isn’t gonna make the difference to warrant an appeal. They turned away folks with the best gpa one could have. If you don’t have an SGR in play, improving a gpa is not enough to contribute to a successful appeal. There has to be dramatic circumstances and new information that was not part of your intial application. But you should decide if it is worth simply writing an essay to your advisor…understand that you may not hear back on it for a long time or not at all.
