Hi Everyone! I’m a long time lurker and recent cs admit. I saw on my FAST that I had to submit copies of me and my parents’ 1040 tax form from 2019. I was just wondering if everyone else has to do this as well.
I see. I do have an SGR for the record, but of course I couldn’t (at the time) send in my spring grades when I’m in the midst of it. Thanks in any case
I think housing chances are so slim, I would just put whatever choices they have there. A transfer never gets a single, ever, but with covid, who knows what they are doing, but they have already said juniors and seniors won’t have housing. I think a single is a throw away choice, as is Village, as it is full, but if you want to throw one in there just to be sure…Cardinal Gardens might be ok to choose as I don’t think that would have converted to freshman due to covid. I’m not sure which housing options they are showing you - but recommend choosing several different buildings rather than different configurations in the same building.
I would get famliar with areas around USC incase you aren’t given housing.
yes, it’s part of the aid process
Oh so they requested an SGR, but you got a rejection yesterday? ugh, sorry, that stinks.
They ask for so many things being a CSS school, this is likely the first of many things you will be asked for. 1040 is standard stuff when applying for FA.
Yeah I sent it in, but it’s all good. that’s why I was thinking maybe I would have a small chance at an appeal cause i feel they didn’t see the full story and that my grades improved significantly. i’m just a fresh so only 2 q worth of grades.
Yeah, I agree that you should pretty much put anything. I was a spring admit and I got absolutely none of the choices I had put down. I was offered what they called temporary housing, but it was going to be with like 5 other guys/roommates. I’m not sure of the layout (I imagine two to a bedroom), but that housing situation didn’t seem ideal so I chose to commute instead. You might get lucky, but if you get anything, it is unlikely it’d be your first or even second choice.
So when will the rest of us get a decision?
It’s not an especially hard process (at least compared to other schools where CS is super impacted and it would be next to impossible). You basically just take a few classes and aim for a B average. You’re almost guaranteed to make the switch so long as you don’t fail any of the classes. They allow a little leeway at times, but it’s best to aim for at least that B. It’s usually a CS course and a math course or something that you’d have to take.
I’m so nervous
looks like we’ll be waiting for a long time. what did you apply for?
Okay, thanks a ton. That sounds doable to me. I guess USC is my best chance to switch my major to CS. UCB does not even allow me to switch and switching to CS at UCSD is basically a lottery.
Does anyone know how to see your acceptance letter in your portal after accepting admission thanks!
hi long time lurker from December ish and my first time posting.
I got rejected yesterday at 5:15 and have been processing it.
GPA: 3.71 from a four year university outside of California.
applied for the health and human sciences major in Dornsife
legacy but not ttp
no SGR request but I submitted my unofficial transcript anyway on May 14
I thought my essays were pretty strong and I did my research and really focused on my program. I also had a strong upward trend in my grades. I only applied to usc so I am going to stay at my 4 year university and will probably apply again for grad school.
and seriously congrats to all those who got accepted!!
is it possible to get on-campus housing as a spring transfer, or is that a hopeless cause?
It’s pretty hopeless, even more so this year, but always apply! Maybe study abroad kicks in again, who knows. But some of the options are awful as @zettasyntax mentioned, or it’s just a freshman experience that has passed, and who wants that if you can live anywhere you want with someone you want to live with? btw, most upperclassman don’t want the rules and regulations of dorm living, it is very restrictive - lots of rising sophomores would opt to move off campus, cause it ain’t all that - there are so many options all around campus. Just saying, living on campus has positive and negatives, so I just wouldn’t feel bad if you don’t get it.
Looks like we’ve reached the end of our journey!
