so I just called the office of admissions regarding my SGR disappearing. the AO on the phone told me that it was really weird and never really happened before? lol and then she said that I was not the only one that called today about their SGR disappearing. she did say that they still have my spring grades on record but for some reason it disappeared off of the checklist, she didnât even know why. I donât know what to do now lol. specially bc I was told I would hear back by the 31st.
oh wth did they say what we should do about it disappearing?
can spring admits also do the USC study abroad programs like USC Paris or Rome? Or are those only for first year students?
lol didnt u say u called a few days ago and that meant you would be hearing back by 5/31? this makes zero sense
Today I received another spring grade request email from the director of admission of SCA.
She was not my AO but wanted me to send my grades to her as well. It got me excited since this is the second email about an SGR.
Have you contacted the admission office and ask about the reasons why you got rejected?
They would probably give you a really vague answer like âYour application didnât meet the requirementsâ or something idk. I feel like they wouldnât give you a straight, detailed answer
Ohhh I thought you received a decision already?
I am part of the April wave and I was able to apply for housing the week after I received the acceptance. I believe everyone else who was able to is also in the same situation, but we basically received an update on our application saying that sophomores who turned in their apps will receive a raffle time around two weeks after freshman assignments which started on May 24. So itâs not guaranteed but we may have a high possibility than those who were accepted later since we are on the list for a room selection time
nope :// they told me to just âwait for a decisionâ
exactly!!! I told her that and she just went silent
Hello everyone! Congrats to all that got accepted!! I was wondering if some of yaâll that got admitted to Marshall could help me out? I got rejected for the second time last Friday, and Iâm confused as to why because I had all the requirements fulfilled, excellent grades and ECâs, and in my opinion really good essays. To all the Marshall acceptances, I was wondering what you wrote in your essays and what you think made you stand out? Thank you!!!
Is anyone here familiar with Lorenzo? I know its close to USC but it looks like you have to cross a highway to get to campus from there and I need an apartment that is in walking distance to USC.
They have a shuttle that leaves every 15 minutes I think.
Did you submit an appeal?
imo, Lorenzo, while swanky, is too far and it is not in a walkable area for food or services. Itâs not close at all as housing around USC goes. Itâs great if you have a group of friends to live with there and some or all have cars, cause the shuttles can be annoying or not timely/reliable. Otherwise, you are well off campus. It is not in walking distance. Gateway or Icon would be better choices if walking distance is criteria. First Choice Housing is one of the better property managers there with lots of apartments/houses under their mgmt.
Super helpful info about housing @fann. Yes, you will get a lottery/raffle time and there may or may not be housing at that time. Also, it is spot filling at that point, so you may like or not like what is offered and wonât have an room mate selection, you get what you get. I would get familiar with the housing options, some are quite a ways off campus and house or small apt buildings like Annenberg or LA Sorbonne. Some are well off campus and with no perks, not sure you want the restrictions, but it may be easier to deal with. Either way, check into options as you have to decide really quick when you get a lottery time.
Also, I noticed it was sent to just sophomore transfers, itâs sounding like junior transfers regardless of when offered, may not be up for housing. Will see if anyone else has more info.
Appreciate you updating us!
Additional housing options:
Shrine Collection
Tusk Villas (for women)
Both of these are pricier. The original Shrine Apartments are near the Shrine. Not certain about the other locations.
Tusk Villas are a former sorority house that is now privately owned.
Does anybody have any idea when the rest of us will hear? Iâm super disappointed that my best case scenario, IF admitted, is scrambling for housing on my own, with no help from the school. The process seems so hands off and as if no one cares if you find housing or not. I donât want to rent an apartment. I want to be on campus as a sophomore girl, in a brand new city. I donât feel safe in an apartment off campus just yet.
