2021-2022 USC Transfer

@CADREAMIN good morning, I also had a question for you if you don’t mind. (not sure you would know it), would University Gateway be super competitive too ? As an international student, I just could not decide on a lot of things until late July or early August, so I am worried that people would rent out all the rooms. Thank you very much!

So I got my first choice major, but recently had a change of heart and now am leaning towards my second choice major instead. Do you think I would be allowed to change my major during the academic advising session? Both majors are similar and have similar required classes.

Are they within same school?

It should be fine, it is a huge complex. It has been competitive to get in there, but there are so many options around USC that are new in last 5 years or so, that it should have taken some of the pressure off Gateway.

Is your cummulative under 3.5 now? Have you ever been in contact with your counselor/advisor?

You need to let the transcript arrive and clear that flag before you register for orientation. There is no rush to sign up for orientation.

Would you happen to know when orientation is (for transfers)? And will it be through zoom? I will be out of the country for a bit so I am not sure if I could access other US websites where I am going :frowning:

My son was accepted on April. His orientation is July 19 at 5:00.
I don’t know if it’s only one orientation or they offer different ones.

Orientation is online this summer.

Yes, both are in Dornsife. My enrolled major is BS in biological sciences but I want to change it to BA in human biology. Do you think my academic advisor would allow me to change it?

That won’t be an issue at all, you just do that at orientation - eazy breezy. Or if you want to sign up for classes for either major and actually formally switch later, you can do that too. Sometimes they will have you register for classes in the major you want, but formally change it with a meeting with your advisor when on campus, but not a problem at all to change with those. They have you do change with advisor to go over your STAR report and course planning for remaining years.

As of right now yes under 3.5, have not been in contact yet but am planning on it.

Thank you for the information. I am starting to lose hope for the school altogether. It is June now and I have no indication of when a decision will be made. Not sure what they expect us to do or how long we will need to wait. Altogether it’s been very discouraging

does anyone know how transfer students will find out about which classes have transferred over to USC. Im trying to figure out what classes I’m going/need to take at USC.

@zettasyntax informed me that the latest is by orientation, but it usually comes earlier. I’m thinking it might be through your counselor?

Also sorry if I missed this, but does anyone else keep getting new requests for financial aid documents? I got one shortly after getting my decision, and now another one…I’m hoping this doesn’t delay when I get my financial aid decision

Awesome thank you!

They really did cut it close with me. My orientation date was a few days later on Monday.
