Iâm not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed out we didnât get ANY decisions yesterday, specially since itâs been a week since they last released decisions. I donât know how much longer I can continue on with this lol my life is literally on hold rn :// I really donât mind waiting for USC I just hope it ends up being worth it. @CADREAMIN when do you think they would start rolling out SGR decisions?
I have mentally prepared myself for a decision in mid-July. You need to expect the absolute worst and prepare for the absolute best. We know by July 15/16 we will have a decision.
Youâve worked hard up to this point no? Do not be so hard on yourself that you donât give yourself time to step away from this until we have decisions.
yeah I understand! I definitely did work really hard and wouldnât mind waiting until mid-july for an answer, however I unfortunately canât because of certain circumstances. if I donât have a decision by the third week of June Iâm gonna have to give up and move on :â( I hope we both hear back soon and get in!
I understand. If there are other obligations that makes perfect sense. I hope we hear back sooner rather than later as well.
Seeing Spring admits suggest fall is full and thatâs most definitely the historical trend for the few appeals that get in.
I see. W and I are SGR applicants so we are still awaiting our initial decision.
Seriously. Most ridiculous thing Iâve ever been through.
No one should have to wait until 3 weeks before their current school starts.
If thatâs the case, then the people who havenât heard yet have no chance of a fall admit.
I 100% agree with this honestly. specially those who submitted their spring grades back in may??? even if I get in sometime in July itâd be impossible for me to be able to move from the east coast to the west coast and find an apartment, ship my car, blah blah and everything in 3 weeks⊠I donât know what to expect anymore
I donât think so tbh, many SGRs end up getting in for the fall semester, Iâm pretty sure USC saves some space for students with SGRs
Ofc USC saves spots for fall for the SGR peeps what else are they gonna do
I sure hope so. But Iâm with you regarding the timing. I donât know why they think people can drop their whole lives in mid July and set up a whole new life, across country for some, in 2 weeks. Very frustrating
I would imagine USC, like many institutions, have spots reserved for the prospective applicants they hope to enroll. Some of these prospective applicants are applicants that havenât even received a decision yet. I believe there is even proof of this in the previous cycle of applicants on CC.
I totally get the frustration, but bottom line is, if an applicant wonât do all the things necessary to get in - like wait to hear and deal with the inconvenience of a late acceptance - then they donât want it as much as someone else does. There are people that do and will. So many things in life are like this - very inconvenient waiting, while requiring people to jump through all kinds of hoops to get to what they want. But if they want something bad enough, they deal with itâŠif they donât, they move on. Bottom line is they have way too many qualified people that will take the spot.
It seems a lot of transfers are just filling spaces that have come available over time and those waiting to hear now are basically waiting on someone to move on or out of a particular major, then they have to check all the demographic boxes to fill it - otherwise they would just admit everybody already. You are on hold for a spot, they are not holding a spot, but sincerely believe one will come up based on forecasting (which colleges are very good at). Transfers at USC (and other privates) donât seem to be part of the fabric as they are at state schools that were built for them, it appears they are used to optimize resources and fill up space made through the natural attitrition. USC isnât the only college working this way.
Having shared that nasty bite of reality, it is ok (and very normal) to say and feel like âthey donât want me as much I want themâ or just feel like all the games are not worth it and move on. It is also ok to do anything to get in there. People make the choice to camp overnight for tickets, a Tesla, the next new Apple thing while others think they are crazy. People doing law or taking the CPA wait for scheduled tests and results (a long process), med students sacrifice for years to be able to put Dr. in front of their name. It is all very personal. But wrapping and building more frustration by feeling that USC doesnât care how this inconviences you - while partially true because they donât have to - doesnât help your mental health. Accepting it is this way and making decisions based on what is best for you would be a healthier way to go.
If you feel you have another comparable option and are just exhausted with the waiting or have real deadlines to deal with, put an expiration date on the waiting. If USC is all you have ever wanted and feel you would regret throwing in the towel after all this, then hang in there. Just get off cc for awhile and go enjoy the world that is opening up out there until the news comes.
thank you SO much for this! I definitely needed to hear this today
SGR students are waiting for spots to open too?
honestly my AO told me that they set some spots aside for SGRs. because receiving a SGR is technically not the applicantâs fault. but cadreamin knows what theyâre talking about so now Iâm unsure lol
Ofc it is not! Not all students can take required classes whenever they want and there is no minimum credit requirement so they cannot hold this against us. Considering there are around 1350 offers means that there will be a few hundred more since they accept 2000-2500 people each year.
And if they really leave sgr students no spots and leave it to chance, USC is not the institution I would be happy attending. Punishing a large majority of sophomore applicants for no reason
