No, sorry, was speaking in generalizations about transfers overall and trying to make the point that there’s a lot of balance that happens for the door to open for those still waiting. So while those with pending SGRs are certainly in better shape than those already rejected, it is also not guaranteed that someone with an SGR turns that turns in perfect grades will get accepted. There is not a spot saved for every SGR or we would see people accepted already.
Chances are good for acceptance granted the applicant hits high marks in the SGR, but only you can decide if it is worth the wait. That’s what I was trying to get across.
See the accepted students in the Spring admit thread. Some were SGR’s and they pasted in the thread the email that very clearly says- no more space for fall.
I’m still here… lurking more since at this point I am out in the cold hoping someone inside doesn’t want their spot and my appeal letter is compelling enough for reconsideration. Every person who has the option to walk away from the USC game is one person closer to allowing me to be one step closer tbh. I pray those who feel USC is truly their only option will find a way in… those who have options well… be grateful you have options because many of us do not and are literally a year behind their timeline or forced to choose a major that is lower than their expectations just because it will allow them to be opened up to other schools while putting their whole plan back a year. I can say I was devastated upon finding out my rejection. For SGRs, who are still waiting, at least there is hope for you and waiting a little longer for something you really want is worth the wait… regardless if it ends in rejection or acceptance. If USC is TRULY what you want, you will sit and wait until the final stand knowing you did your best and did all you can… any doubt that this isn’t worth it anymore and you can walk away from it… do it… At the end of the day, it is what is going to be best for you… USC is just a college but personally for my degree, career path, and my family situation–it truly is my only option which is why I am still here. I would have given anything for the opportunity fall or spring… its an acceptance.
I completely understand your situation, believe me. I have family members in the exact same situation as you. I understand that not everyone has options and that some have had their dreams shattered by being rejected. But for some of us, the waiting, the not knowing, the life on hold, feels just as bad. For a lot of people, in many different life scenarios, it’s the not knowing that kills you.
and i totally get that feeling as well… we all were there waiting each day “wondering”. However, we also knew SGR rolled out on a rolling basis and we also knew USC is going to do what it wants this year… Trust me, I feel for the SGRs because that “what if” is still lingering, while I was able to get a final decision before the 31 May deadline and react accordingly. I do hope for those who are still waiting hears a decision soon so you can also plan accordingly. Im sure everyone has their reasons on why USC is number choice but the ultimate goal should be (and most important) is that you are able to graduate at any good college with your BA.
Everyone has different circumstances and I completely get it’s annoying that there are people complaining about waiting, because I am annoyed too, but at the same time we literally can’t help your rejection lol. The way you’re wording your post it makes it sound like it’s our fault you got rejected and that because you got rejected, we can’t / are not able to feel a specific way.
if your interpretation of my post was that I’m blaming any of you guys, I am not… As some that have spoken to me, the only person I am blaming is myself (on the rejection part). you have the right to your feelings and frustration with the process… all I am saying is try and look at things that are going for you… i get the waiting sucks… i get you cant prepare because you don’t have an answer… unfortunately there is no set timeline on when one really is going to hear back besides at the latest mid-July. All you can do, is breathe, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Complaining will only stress you out that much more
I would consider a reinterpretation of Kendra’s post. I am still awaiting a decision after submitting my SGR in May and I took no offense to her statement.
“be grateful you have options because many of us do not and are literally a year behind their timeline or forced to choose a major that is lower than their expectations just because it will allow them to be opened up to other schools while putting their whole plan back a year.” this just sounds like she’s blaming us for her being rejected and that we need to accept potentially lower than our expectations because she got rejected. the “be grateful you have options” is just not needed
I don’t necessarily understand what is wrong with telling someone to be grateful? If you weren’t outright rejected, Is it not reasonable to be grateful for the opportunity to attend a university you took the time to apply for? In my opinion, it is a small victory. There is no grief here, only support, but a portion of that support is being realistic with one another without creating conflict.
I am confident the intention of her post was nothing but good wishes. It’s not a contest - getting rejected is not worse for some than others, it sucks for each person and she certainly knows that. I thought it was funny that in her typical half is glass full approach, she was grateful to at least already be rejected already so she isn’t in purgatory like others still are (sympathy). Bottom line, knowing our long time poster, I only read encouragement, but understand that after being rejected or still stressed with waiting, it is easy to find the negative. It’s an exhausting process.
We have seen people accepted in both June and July get admitted for fall, so don’t assume all SGRs remaining are for spring, regardless of that statement. While I do expect fall is super impacted this year with the re-opening of the world, that statement goes out most years.
Does anyone know if accepted transfers get the packages like first years? I probs can’t afford the tuition given my aid package but I want the package at least
Thank you for that. When you said “ We have seen people accepted in both June and July get admitted for fall”, I understand that. But when you said “don’t assume all SGRs remaining are for fall”, what did you mean by that? I’m confused. The way I’m reading it sounds contradictory, so I think I’m reading it wrong.
He had a typo and basically meant to say don’t expect all sgr’s to just be admitted for the spring. I actually agree with this cuz if you look at past years like he said people were getting accepted for the fall well into June and July
