Great info, thanks! (I think we cross posted!) @usctransferplssss Chances are your room mate will be great, USC kids have a lot in common to begin with, at least to use as a base to build on. Even in USC housing them picking a room mate is sorta luck of the draw, so I would worry less about room mate and more about getting a room!

tuscany isnt answering the phone even tho it says they are open so iām tempted to just put down a deposit for lorenzo and call it a day. do yāall think i should wait on tuscany? iāll have my car so the distance of lorenzo shouldnāt be an issue

Tuscany is super close, food all around. Lorenzo is shi-shi, very nice, but everything is a drive, there is nothing you can walk to from there as once outside of complex itās a bit meh and nothing. Lots live at Lorenzo, but if you want to feel more part of the community, Iād go with Tuscany first - at least see if its available.
I sent tuscany an email, so we will see if they respond. I also got an email from someone from Lorenzo with a promo code to waive my deposit so i just applied to see if I can get a lease or not. we will see what happens

I am not sure. I just know itās little far. Did you check 505? I heard that itās new and clean. My son did not check it. He just wants to stay close to USC because he doesnāt have a car.

Most likely per room, per person for a nice apartment is usually around 1100
A single can run $2100-$2400, agree that should be for both, so it would be divided. You have to ask if they rent by the bed though, typically for outside apartments (aside from the giant complexes) both people are signing a lease for the total amount. Meaning if one bails or drops out, the other is responsible for it all. My guess is the rent is for the apartment and they donāt do by room - but maybe they have a list of people looking for room mates (but typically the smaller ones donāt, just ask). Ellendale is a popular street and in the DPS zone, close to Ralphs. Itās all students up and down. A bit of a walk, but certainly not extreme, lots do it everyday, or get a bike, skateboard or even carā¦
Lorenzo will let you rent by bed. That complex is insane - very fancy with lots of amenities. Trojan on Ellendale is a normal apt complex, the Lorenzo is more like a hotel. So if you donāt mind the distance, Lorenzo is a dif level of nice. See if you can find any chatter online about Lorenzo and current (last two years there). They go in and out of favor (there was concern about it making money and if they were maintaining and those kind of issues) but I havenāt heard that in recent years. My sonās friends lived there as upperclassmen and he said it was crazy nice compared to others - fountains, pool, landscaping, etc.

Does anyone know if the Stafford subsidized loan affects the University Grant?
I got the Deanās Merit Scholarship, and my estimated Cal Grant B says a wonderful number but on my CSS account it says I didnāt qualify for a Cal Grant.
From what Iāve read, the University Grant itself becomes modified to try to compensate for the missing Cal Grant funds if thatās the case- is that true? 
Maybe someone else will jump in, but I would call financial aid on Monday and get it all clarified.
