Since housing is included in our aid, if we get off campus housing, will it we be reimbursed or do they just cut it off from our accounts?
anyone with a noncustodial parent waiver still waiting for their financial aid package?
Yep, me
Yes, aid is used for on or off campus.
Loans should have no effect. I had to use some loans to pay for the student medical insurance (I was uninsured at the time). Itās when you get other grant aid/scholarships that USC tends to chip away at the university grant. For example, when I was interviewing for the Topping Scholarship, a current scholar told us if our tuition was already covered by grant aid and we were awarded the 5K scholarship, USC might do something like reduce the university grant by 5K.
For the second one, youād definitely have to call the FA office. The university grant can be modified to compensate for other forms of grant aid you no longer receive, but I think you would have had to been awarded that aid previously. When I lost my Cal Grant eligibility, USC did increase my university grant by the amount I was no longer getting from them. Was a Cal Grant included in your initial FA package? I wish I had a definitive answer for this one.
Hi!
Iāve previously received the Cal Grant at my community college. And currently my financial aid package is lined with a bunch of āEstimated Cal Grant Bā items as well as a University Grant that is helping me immensely.
Itās kind of nerve racking and Iām definitely going to need to contact financial aid tomorrow.
Thank you so much!
We are.
How long does it usually take for them to release a studentās financial aid package? It will be 2 weeks tomorrow that my daughter was accepted.
Yeah definitely reach out to them. The CSS profile stuff confuses the heck out of me. I had received the Cal Grant at my CC as well, but I canāt recall if CSS said I was ineligible for a Cal Grant. I had received a summer Cal Grant at USC and after that I apparently exhausted my Cal Grant eligibility, but my university grant did increase during the fall to make up for that. At least Iāve found that USC is generally pretty consistent with financial aid assuming your financial situation remains the same.
I would call FA tomorrow and just ask if they have everything they need and ask when to expect it. Even though itās online, there is nothing like having a live person look over your file to see where you are at.
Make sure to check your financial aid portal often. At the very last minute I had items they were requesting and I did not get an email notification. I just happened to check and I saw that I had a brand new outstanding request. This happened twice right before I got my final award.
Oh we check every day. It may have something to do with the noncustodial parent waiver. Weāll give them a call tomorrow.
Spoke to financial aid and they said it could be another 5-10 business days but that may just be a default answer. All the documents were in order. Weāre just waiting for them to approve the noncustodial parent waiver. Iām not sure what weāll do if they donāt approve it.
Update:
100 years! Still laughing. I get it.
i guess when they said āDo not take on more debt than you can handle. Borrow only what you need.ā THEY MEANT IT thanks for the update
Hello! Does anyone know if itās possible to appeal a spring admission into a fall admission?
It is not. So much so, that they post not to even ask. Everyone wants fall, they know that.
hi guys I submitted my SGR on June 15th and heard back today at 5:00!! I was accepted into Marshall with a Pre-Law Emphasis for fall of 2021. Iām an incoming TTP sophomore and finished with a 4.0! Is there a discord or group somewhere for transfers that I could join! Congratulations to those who have heard and good luck to those still waiting!!
