Vanderbilt! Best thing that could happen to college football.

So, so happy for Vandy. Bama jumping to no. 1 was kind of dumb.

We have a bye this week. Makes for a long 2 week stretch.

Oh, Michigan. This is not good. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Now Michigan is using 7th year senior Jack Tuttle. Their 3rd QB of the season. Warren and Orji benched.

What the heck is wrong with freshman Jadyn Davis?

UW win and Alabama loses. It’s a great day to be a Husky.

Commentator during the Vandy game said something so true - the great teams are not so great and the bad teams are not so bad - making for an interesting year of college football.

Theory on what is happening because of the portal etc. The top ranked teams attracted a lot of NFL hopefuls who care more about their own career and their stats than team success. The lower ranked teams have lessor talent who are all about team success.

Who says there’s no school spirit at UCB? :sunglasses:

Tough loss yesterday though.

That was so fun! I watched it live. I love when the kids make it.

To the best of my knowledge, college football doesn’t crown a national champion in Week #6 of 15 plus playoffs.

I just hope I’m not on this thread in my 80’s waiting for Michigan to rise again.

Parity. The ridiculous (IMO) transfer portal has made it a players market for sure. Couple that with all of the coaching changes this year and it’s anyone’s guess how it will turn out.

Unfortunately for the players, not all the portal transfers find that the astro-turf is greener at the new school. Cormani McClain was one of the top recruits in the country and went to CU last year (I believe as a freshman). He didn’t play a lot of games as he was very undisciplined, skipped classes, was late to practice. He transferred to Florida and it’s not working out too well. He went to the CU/UCF game last week and there were a lot of rumors he knows he made a mistake because he needed the rules and the discipline of Coach Prime.

Almost the entire defensive line for CU is transfers. The first game was a MESS. They hadn’t played together much and it showed. Tons of mistakes like offside, bad formations, missed assignments.

I do hate the portal, but I think that players will realize that the 5 best QBs can’t go to the same school (and all play). Remember the old days of One and Done for the big basketball powerhouses? I don’t see that as much anymore. Not everyone can be LeBron (and he didn’t even play college basketball) and most do better with a few years of experience.

I don’t hate the portal. Of course, my school has greatly benefitted from it in most cases. But today, for instance, I watched UT transfer Melanie Parra lead TCU to a big vball win over Baylor. I don’t know why she transferred, but she’s having a lot of success there. Now, if she’d stayed at UT she’d have a second national championship, but clearly she was unhappy with her playing time or something about the UT system and she’s been doing well at TCU. The announcers of that game even put her in Player of the Year contention. No hard feelings from UT fans.

This may have been posted somewhere already, but if you haven’t checked out, “SEC Shorts,” on YouTube, have a look. Soooo funny.

We attended the Arkansas Tennessee game:

LOVE SEC Shorts!!! I was counting the minutes to see how Vandy “came back from the grave” last weekend. It did not disappoint.
