Has anyone reported being accepted off the Kelley DA waitlist? If only denials are being reported - should this still be reported as waitlist movement (or perhaps we should add a note to clarify)? As I think most people are looking at the movement as getting a positive result.

Have not heard of any acceptances from the waitlist. Personally, I think denials count as waitlist movement. But because waitlist denials are uncommon, I defer to @jym626 and the CC braintrust as to how to handle IU Kelley DA waitlist. Anyone can edit the list in the OP.

Providence sent an email to students saying there will be a waitlist update by April 30, to let them know if they expect to admit off the WL this year.

I’ve seen a few UIUC waitlist admits the last few days by students on Reddit and mentioned by parents on Facebook, across a number of majors (the ones I remember include CS+X, mech eng and philosophy).

Qq rather than a new thread, but does this is mean all these schools vastly underestimated yield? Waitlist just a week or two after extending offers surprised me as a Class of 28 parent just learning.

speaking to uiuc only, and this is anecdotal for the most part, but it seems they waitlisted a lot more kids this year to better manage enrollment. They have had real issues with over-enrollment and housing issues the past 2-3 years. In prior years, per CDS data, almost no one gets in off the waitlist there, so I’m genuinely surprised at this outcome.

We also don’t actually know how many people are getting admitted off of any of the waitlists, any more than we know whether it’s a small batch now or will continue rolling out. So I’m not really sure we can make big assumptions.
(Anecdotally off the net, what I’ve seen backs up what you said re UIUC - that it’s been harder to get admitted this year and a lot of people have gone to waitlist, with speculation it’s related to housing, but unless anyone from admissions can confirm, you just don’t know.)
What do you mean “extending offers”? Do you mean giving them out or do you mean telling people the due date to reply was extended?

Admissions decisions. Most RD released in March, but schools going to waitlists within just a few weeks.
Only a small handful of schools went to waitlists early in a limited fashion. Some are just starting now, and some haven’t started at all. So I’m just not seeing what you’re claiming here.

Well, that’s not “a week or two” and 1 May is decision day so that’s a hard indicator to the schools regardless of it being “just a few weeks”. You’re also maybe forgetting that a lot of public schools and some privates extend a lot of offers in the early action round in Dec/Jan - some extend the majority of their offers then - so many of these offers will have been around for months already. And even if not waiting for exactly 1 May, these colleges probably know from past years that most of the people who are going to commit will have done so by …say… last week of April sometime, so by that stage they have some idea of at least some of the people they can let off the waitlist. So I don’t agree that your conclusion about “vastly underestimating yield” is valid.
