2028 Princeton Waitlist Thread

Create the Princeton 2028 waitlist thread so people can share information.

Does the delay of FAFSA decision have the impact on when the waitlist decision will be released?

Based on this thread, Princeton will not be affected by the FAFSA delay.

https://admission.princeton.edu/cost-aid/apply-financial-aid

Please note: Princeton will use the information provided by families on the Princeton Financial Aid Application to offer admitted students a tentative aid package that meets 100% of demonstrated financial need with a grant. Since there will be a delay in schools receiving student FAFSA information from the U.S. Department of Education, the tentative aid packages will meet full need without federal funds and will later be adjusted by replacing institutional grant with federal funds for those eligible . Admitted students should not see any change in the amount of grant in the aid package once the FAFSA information has been received, unless there is different information provided on the form.

Waitlisted here. Isn’t there any idea of how the waitlist will be this year?

No one knows until May 1. Princeton will have to wait till then to figure out how many students commit and the committed count hits their target. Last year, they took no one from the waitlist.

How do you know that, last year, they took no one from the waitlist? If you go to the CC Princeton class 2027 RD official thread, you will find that at least 2 students got off the waitlist. Do you think they posted fake messages?

No official 2027 data has been released to the Common Data Set yet, so talk about waitlist movement is purely speculation. (not sure how people believe it was zero in 2027.) Historically, Princeton’s waitlist utilization varies significantly. Some years they accept over a hundred students, while others they take none.

Whether those posts are genuine or not is inconsequential. Waitlist admission can be unpredictable, almost like a lottery. If you can’t get off the waitlist, it’s best not to dwell on the outcomes for others. The more relevant question is whether Princeton aims to admit a significant number from the waitlist this year.

Someone from NJ claimed that he got off from waitlist with a full ride on May 2 (Reddit r/applyingToCollege). Not sure if that’s the special case as the stats does not appear to be the regular top candidate - relatively low SAT/ACT score.

True, I saw this guy. It’s kind of strange since he was test-optional. However, we can’t be sure of anything. Would Princeton call just one person? No other in any forum seems to be accepted.

I read this guy’s posts…I was skeptical of him too, but he is really active and giving advice to everyone. It seems he was only admitted to Dartmouth. You never know the fact that he is from NJ and he belongs to a specific race or background is crucial sometimes ( these issues factor in these cycles mores than merit it seems ) . I stopped believing that acceptances are all about merit because they are not, they are about a package and need… Now why Princeton did not call anyone except him, is the BIG question! because the other unis are opening their WL in batches, and this is why we are skeptical of his story. You can always call the admission office and check if they did open their waitlist or not?

No news posted about anyone else receiving admission after that one person getting news on May 2nd. Hoping this week is THE week

Nobody has been off the wait-list yet. I forgot this email last Friday:

Thank you so much for reaching out. We are in the process of reviewing applications on the waitlist. We will be making offers over the next few weeks. We will email all waitlisted applicants when we have made all offers and the waitlist is closed.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have any further questions you can reach out via uaoffice@princeton.edu or by calling our office at 609-258-3060.

This is definitely good news. Thank you for sharing this email.

Thanks for sharing. It sounds like there might still be opportunities for waitlisted applicants this year. Fingers crossed!

Thank you for sharing, that is great news!!! But I don’t think I will share it with my daughter as she has practically come to terms with the idea that Princeton will not open the waitlist this year, as most schools have closed theirs. I have no idea why Pt is taking sooo long!!! Thanks Again …

Could be a reason for cautious optimism (or wishful thinking)? Perhaps they are admitting more students than usual off the WL and need more time.

I have seen some data where Princeton has admitted around May 27. This was 2-3 years back in reddit.
