5 things you must do in China

Going abroad to Beijing next fall

list the top 5 things you MUST do in China, the sights you must see…

Um, Tiananmen Square?

I’ve never been to Beijing but if I had the chance to, I’d definitely check out Tiananmen Square.

Wait - that IS in Beijing, right?

Great Wall…YaShow shopping center :stuck_out_tongue: <—> cheap, great stuff. Got a great harley davidson (yeah right) leather jacket for $50.

The food is so great lol. I can pig out all day. drools So much better than the “Chinese” food that is here in the U.S.

Maglev.

You Must Ride The Pudong Airport Maglev.

the only thing i know of is the great wall of china!
i heard that you can see it from the moon…

the Wangfujing place, it’s very characteristic of the traditional Beijing, or so I heard.

Beijing National Library, the architecture is very interesting, Soviet influenced.

play tennis at the Beijing Stadium, fantastic experience and you may actually glimpse prof athletes.

you have to eat at Beijing Kao ya Restaurant!!! especially the duck

Zi Zhu Yuan(Purple Bamboo Garden?) in the afternoon or evening after dinner

the famous places you already know. The lake at Yi He Yuan freezes in the winter and it’s really fun if you have a little sister or brother. You can rent a little wodden boat and slide across the lake. Not sure if they still have that anymore.

DongGuanCung? I think that what it’s called. East Village? U can buy high tech stuff at cheap prices there. at least that’s what my cousin said.

go 2 Suzhou and c Xi Hu (the West Lake…?) and the gardens there. they are BEAUTIFUL (at least when i went there…)

and eat everything, of course. xD

You can check out the ruins of Yuan Ming Yuan as well. Pretty cool but would have been better if it wasnt burnt down. Like salome said Yi He Yuan is a place you have to go to.

KTV with the natives

I would suggest eating in hotels if you are not into having a adventure with food. Sometimes its quite difficult to find food that you want to eat. I tried jellyfish when i was there… peking duck is also super there (obviously)

Go see the wall … its great

Personally i prefer shanghai to beijing and would advise to check it out if you get a chance.

If i remember things i will let you know. Its been some time since i went to beijing. I have also been to a city called dalian (i think thats how you spell it) it was ok but not as impressive as beijing or shanghai.

speak mandarin.

Eat Kentucky Fried Chicken!!! The KFC in Beijing is rumored to have the highest sales in the world.

Be sure to check out the Tea House next to the KFC. Show time starts right after dinner every night.

lol @ GoBlue. Chinese KFC is pretty good lol. I never had KFC in my life until i went to China once. Had KFC there and was really wowed by how good it was. Came back to the states and ate the crap here and never touched U.S. KFC again.

hi guys,I am originally from HongKong.Considering Beijng 3 full day trip enroute from NA to HK.Where to get tailored suits and cheongsham,or would I have more time in HK?

But you can’t catch bird flu off the American KFC

Question about suits - Shanghai are rumoured to have some of the best tailors in the world… at good prices too… so if you have time try and get them there. Hong Kong suits are probably great but more expensive too.

how would u go about finding the best tailors? just go by word of mouth?

Yeah, word of mouth or touristy guide things - a good start would be to direct yourself to central Shanghai and find the most expensive area with the largest proportion of Westerners walking along the streets. The good tailors shouldn’t be far off eh? ;)

what’s a fair price to pay for a good tailored suit?

cheap suits in Shenzhen 50US$ each material included.
Are there any better one in Beijing?
Touristy area charges touritsty prices!!!I am not some Gweilo,I speak Mandarin though with heavy HongKong accent.
