A Chinese seeks for help

I’m a Chinese from Beijing and plan to study sociology or education or something related to Chinese in U.S. , but I have no idea what university I can go and which one would be easier for me to apply for financial aid ? Please give me some recommendations, thanks very much in advance!
PS:I’m working on my Master Degree and major in English.

Try to find a school that has a large Asian study department. From top of my head, Ohio State, Cal State San Francisco, St. Johns of NY, U of Virginia, Oberlin, U of Chicago, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Seton Hall of NJ, NYU… just name a few.

Good luck.

I’m actually a Chinese-American sociologist (Ph.D. from Michigan State University.) Certainly going to a highly ranked school (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc.) wouldn’t hurt if you can get in and afford it. Schools like University of Michigan have good Asian Studies Program. Keep in mind that sociology and education are very different fields. Sociology is great, but you will need a Ph.D. to get a job. In education, you just need a teaching certificate. Saginaw Valley State University is partnering with Ming Chuan University from Taiwan to offer masters degrees in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. If you are interested in teaching Chinese this might be a good way to go. This program will take place entirely in the US and lead to a masters from a US University. Go to [Brian the Sociologist - Home](http://www.brianthesociologist.com) and send me a message if you are interested in more information.

Thank you very much for your information and offering for help but it seems not easy to connect the website you offered. :frowning:
