I thought Tony Romo did a good job of laying out the first five minutes the game. He even put out the reason why the Chargers would be stupid and wouldn’t change. Because that’s what got them there. I liked how Romo spoke about all the Charger DBs playing too far behind the line of scrimmage and not pressing; allowing Brady and BB to just carve it up.
It’s as if the Chargers hadn’t seen Bill Belichick go to eight Super Bowls by being flexible gameplan to gameplan.
Agree with @jym626 Atlanta does not need Saint fans.
If the Patriots play like they did Sunday against the Chargers, we are going all the way…They were on fire! Totally unexpected even from this fan and not sure they can mimic it again, but I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed. Their season started so badly I never thought we’d make the playoffs so just glad to be playing again this coming week!
particularly for a kicker. At his salary/price, he is not even good trade bait, unless Da’ Bears offer to eat a lot of it. But in which case, if you are gonna eat the money, might as well have him kick for you. Agree, Da’ Bears invited a USFA kicker (for a camp leg) and Parkey beats him out.
If I correctly understand how this works, he would have to agree to restructure his contract for the Bears to eat more of it than just the rest of the signing bonus. Not sure he has any incentive to do that unless the new team offers him a new deal that nets him more money.
It’s possible he has offset language in his contract, but I don’t think veterans usually have it, I’m sure they expected him to last at least the two years where he has guaranteed money.
A lot of times the players union will not permit coming back at less than the full contract. They can stretch it out, but the dollars have to be there.
Romo is too much ‘inside baseball’ and while I consider myself a knowledgeable fan, I get lost in the ‘oh, he threw the slant on a 1-2 option on a go go go count.’ He uses too much quarterback talk. I will say he often gets the calls right before the refs announce a penalty or questionable catch.
The Chargers played like the Steelers, i.e., “We’re gonna do what we do, and dare you to stop us!!”
Belichick and the Patriots change their approach for every opponent, based on strengths and weaknesses.
The problem with the Steeler/Charger approach, is if your thing is not working, then what’s Plan B?
I love Romo. (As a commentator, not so much as a quarterback, although the incisiveness of his commentary makes me rethink my views of him as a player.) I wish he worked more games I wanted to watch. He’s the only color guy currently broadcasting who ever tells you something you didn’t already know or hadn’t just seen with your own eyes. Yes, he sometimes veers into jargon, but I am really impressed by his knowledge of the game and everyone’s roles, on both offense and defense, and by his ability to share that knowledge effectively.
The snow has ended for us and switched to sleet and freezing rain, which is the stuff that sticks to branches and power lines and pulls them down. So that would suck to lose power.
If it wasn’t for a freak miracle play at the end of the last Patriots-Dolphins game, they would be playing here in this crap, and 70,000 fans would be trying to slide their way to Foxborough. That would be exciting.
Meanwhile, in KC the forecast has changed from sub-zero temperatures (“Ice Bowl II !!!”) to a high of 30 today.
Meteorologists. In what other occupation can you be wrong 75% of the time and still keep your job? 8-}
Just got some Kaluaha for my hot chocolate and root beer /beer… Never had it but how bad can it be, some snacks.
I don’t really have a horse in this race but these should be really good games. Just not sure who to root for. Each team has their certain qualities. Do I go with the old timer quarterback with the Saints who’s playing like 10 years younger or the New kid on the block with Mahommes?
Should I root for the Rams since the Bears beat them or Brady since he’s just amazing no matter if I want to see him screw up once in a big game.
Well my Saints (see how I picked a team) are doing OK so far.
@Nrdsb4 reminds me when my daughter entered a March madness basketball pool and won. She knows nothing about college basketball but just liked the team names she picked in like 1 minute…
