A NFL running playoff thread

^^Non-call? Unbelievable. If the Rams go on to win, after that call, wow.

Clearly the league wants the two young qbs in the Super Bowl, so the refs have been instructed which way to make the calls.

Doesn’t bode well for the Patriots in the late game.

I’ve thought that the officiating has been loose for lack of another word for this entire game. The officials missed a face mask on the Saints on the previous possession at the goal line that would have given the Rams 1st and goal. They settled for a field goal to tie the game.

That’s my opinion. I’m not a fan of either team.

The no call on interference…how to explain that? Wow.

I feel like they missed more than one face mask. It’s horrible when an outcome this important is in dispute. Considering how the NFL is so OCD about reviewing things, it does feel like the fix is in.

yes, meant no-call.

@greenwitch I agree that they missed more than one face mask. I was pointing out that there was a no call on pass interference but also a no call on a face mask on the previous drive. Both of which the team settled for a field goal.

There has been a lot of discussion about the officiating this year. They were calling a lot of pass interference and the rumor was that they needed to call less. There were less PO calls after that.

I sound like such a geek, geez!

How can they not have a replay on that call. In the playoffs that should of been reviewed.

No saints in Atlanta. Sorry, NOLA. That said, it looked like pass interference to me.

^^I don’t believe that PI’s are reviewable calls, since they are based on the judgement of the field refs.

In a post-game interview, Sean Payton told Erin Andrews that the Refs told him that in their judgement, the collision happened simultaneously with the ball. Of course that is ridiculous on its face since the helmet-to-helmet crack/crunch could clearly be heard before the ball got there. Or, at least it was definitely audible on the tv feed; perhaps the crowd noise hindered the Refs from hearing that part of the collision.

Yes I know it’s not supposed to be reviewed but maybe in the playoffs it should be. Sad way to not advance

On the no call play, shouldn’t that also have been a helmet to helmet hit penalty?

my viewing of the tape was that the helmet contact was incidental in that the Safety did not lower his helmet and lead with his head. He just ran thru the receiver and never looked for the ball. (Of course, there are some sports blogs that said the helmet-to-helmet was also a foul…)

One of the easiest Pass Interferences that I have ever seen.

update: a NOLA sports reporter tweeted that sean payton told him that the league office admitted that the foul was missed.

But they gave them a bogus PI call in the overtime as a make up.

Go LA Rams!!!

Lots of plays to review in this second game… Lol

Notice how all the kickers are hitting their field goals… Agh… (still not over the Bears game… Lol)

I normally don’t care that much about games not involving my particular teams, so I’m surprised how very, very badly I want the Chiefs to win. I simply can not stand another Patriots Super Bowl, and I love Andy Reid.

I’d love to see the chiefs win too. Their quarterback is amazing.

Haters gonna hate. B-)
