I’ve got a few questions below:
1.Are Internships so important for an undergraduate who’s applying for master’s degree in the US?
2.If it’s important, does it matter if I did not get the internship in a big-name?
3.Plus, I heard that some US universities will do some investigation on applicants’ internship, what should I prepare for that?(Contract, Email of my supervisor?)
Internships can definitely boost your application! For #2, focus on the skills you gained and projects you worked on. Proof like contracts or supervisor emails can’t hurt!
Internships can strengthen your application, but I would also research the programs/schools and see what additional experiences are recommended/required.
The internship does not have to be from a big name organization. What matters is what you learned, how you communicate what you learned, transferable skills etc.
I am not sure what you mean by investigations. Do you mean references, letters of recommendation etc? Most programs will ask for references- you should follow the directions given by the school or program.
There have been a few stories in the news recently about international students who made up their entire application. I think it’s been harder to verify than in the US. So yes, I believe many schools will be doing further investigation into the validity of applications from abroad.
