Acceptance Mail/Package

Do the schools send a physical package by mail to their accepted students with special emphasis on international applicants?

Yes. But such packages may only be papers - no swag. Depends on the school

We got a package Saturday from a private day school. It had a stuffed mascot, a key chain made in the idea hub by students, stickers, and a very personal letter saying exactly why we were accepted which was very sweet.

Our daughter got an email today that a package sent by Lawrenceville is on its way!

Your daughter was already accepted to Lawrenceville?

No! We haven’t heard anything officially of course - not until M10. But she got an email from Lawrenceville today saying, “ Your THE LAWRENCEVILLE SCHOOL order has shipped!” with a USPS label tracking number thingy. So…choosing to infer that this is a goody-package meant to be delivered coinciding with forthcoming good news on M10…

We certainly didn’t buy/order anything!

Yeah that definitely sounds like good news! We got an email from them this morning too but it just said exactly one week until we should check portal for decision.

Fingers crossed for you guys (and everyone!)

We also got this email about a package from Lawrenceville. I wonder if they didn’t realize these shipment notifications would go out. Seems like unintended information!

Perhaps they order the labels early but don’t release the packages? It does sound like good news. Well done!

Yet… Grateful to be int’l right now. Not bothering with any package nonsense as it would make me nuts wondering if no notice was actually a no. I don’t even think we check our mailbox. Everything in life is electronic these days.

Adding to the package conversation which usually heats up a little later, like March 7th or so –
Certainly getting the alert can often mean good news. But the reverse is NOT necessarily true.
I remember one year we got only about half the alerts that others got, despite having all the informed delivery options, etc. So just know that if you do NOT get an alert, it does NOT mean that you aren’t getting accepted. My daughter got into several schools that others had shared about packages alerts here on CC and we just didn’t get any alert for them.

An email from L’ville, as in the school itself? Interesting. In past years afaik these emails are from USPS/UPS/FedEx. Also last year someone tentatively claimed that L’ville uses UPS. My personal conclusion is that these notifications fluctuate so much between situations that I should probably just not care about them and find out on M10 like everyone else.

It’s clearly an auto-generated shipping notification, even though it originated with the gentleman who is the Lawrenceville mailroom supervisor. Just for what it’s worth - agree that M10 is soon enough, just funny (and oh-so-modern) that the surprise could possibly be spoiled this way!

Any other schools besides L’ville which have sent out notifications so far? I didn’t apply there but (tentative) congratulations to those who are receiving packages!
