[li]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: DON’T WORRY IF YOU HAVEN’T GOT YOUR ACCEPTANCE YET! I submitted on Nov 14th, and was checking the portal multiple times every day. I knew my stats were good enough but because I hadn’t gotten the acceptance I was afraid I was going to be deferred. Don’t worry! They are clearly choosing to go over and uploading them randomly, so just take a deep breath and be confident [/li][/ul]
Just wanted to say again, DON’T WORRY IF YOU HAVEN’T GOT YOUR ACCEPTANCE YET! I submitted on Nov 14th, and was checking the portal multiple times every day. I knew my stats were good enough but because I hadn’t gotten the acceptance I was afraid I was going to be deferred. Don’t worry! @itsisha Thanks for the reinforcement! I applied morning of Nov 15, and am chomping at the bit to get a response. My SAT I M+V was 1400, which the ACT site says is comparable to a 32; my GPA W is 4.12, and UW is 3.93. I’ve done as much as I can to show interest; contacting admissions counselor multiple times and writing thorough and thoughtful Why Tulane. I’m taking 18 college credits this semester (and will be next semester too), and should be receiving my AA in Spring (the same time I graduate high school). My major is History, and my current History prof (who got her Master’s at Tulane) wrote me my rec letter! I’m from Idaho (so my counselor is Nora); is there anyone else from her area that’s heard yet?
I know my stats are pretty good as far as being in Tulane’s target range. Still, I’m getting nervous about the decision! Tulane is definitely one of my top schools! @fallenchemist you seem to be a great authority on this, any comments for me regarding my prospects? Thanks so much!
I would say “authority” is a bit too strong, but I have seen a lot of recent history (no pun intended) and I think you are exactly right. Your stats should be a great match for Tulane. I don’t know if the fact that you are so far along that you will actually have an AA at the same time you graduate high school and before starting at a 4 year school impacts how your application is handled. Do you still come in as a “freshman”, eligible for all the merit scholarships that go with that designation, or are you considered more of a transfer student? I really have no idea. Might be worth an email or a phone call to Nora, unless you already know the answer.
@fallenchemist Okay, cool. Thank you so much for responding; I hope so! Interesting, I hadn’t thought too much about that, so thanks for pointing it out to me. The general rule of thumb that I’ve seen is that I’m still considered a freshman as long as I don’t take any college credits after graduating HS, so that’s what I applied as. I’ll see if I can find more info about how Tulane handles that online, and if not I probably will contact her. Thanks again!
Ah, yes. I think that is right. Well, if you find out anything different let us know. It is part of what makes CC so great.
Hi, so I got my scholarship info today.
I got the President Scholarship and was admitted to the Honors Program.
The rest of my info is on post 386 but here are the highlights
SAT 1: 2260, SAT 2: 800 in chem math2 and bioe.
Hope everyone else’s works out! CC has been really helpful and especially @fallenchemist !
I am really starting to panic a little. I applied in late October and still have not heard back. I have a 4.67 GPA and a 35 ACT with lots of extracurriculars and close to 600 hours of community service. My essays weren’t outstanding but they were good, and I did the Why Tulane essay. I also submitted my DHS scholarship application a few days ago. Has anyone heard from TN?

@TLS2598 - We live in Tennessee and D2 just received acceptance on Gibson two days ago. Her stats are excellent, but a notch below yours (2240 SAT). She did the Why Tulane but has not yet finished the DHS/PT forms. Clearly you will be fine with your academic record and accomplishments.
BTW, I am at least the 3rd fallen chemist to haunt this thread. Not too many regrets about that. Chemistry was an absolute blast as an undergraduate.
any updates from anyone from new York city?
has anyone who applied for SCEA been accepted yet?
So will we find out if we got deferred on December 15?
