if I got a letter from Tulane yesterday inviting me to apply, should I be at all concerned? Or is this just a general mailing that they send out?
Outside companies do those mailings. Just a glitch.

General Comments/Advice/Hindsight:
[ul]
[]Always do the Why Tulane Essay; It’s one of the best ways to Show demonstrated interest.
[]Do the interview, I kind of wish I did.
[]Don’t be afraid to throw your hat in the ring, my parents and guidance counselor basically told me Tulane wasn’t my time.
[li]Don’t worry too much if you have a lower GPA/Test Scores, but make sure you show strengths in other areas.
[/li][/ul]
Forgot to ask, when should I receive my mailed letter from them if I got accepted yesterday?
Probably by this time next week or sooner. Also, there is no interview process for Tulane.
To accepted students:
Is anyone else receiving phone calls from Tulane?

3.65 weighted gpa
3 sports all years
Did mad volunteering
1850 sats
Visited tulane
Wrote some dope essays for them
Expecting to get denied do i have any shot?
@tomcat39 SATs will be the only thing i think will get you down. sports will help though. I hope you get in!
Yes you have a chance. You won’t get denied now, but you might get deferred. But look at post #546 robert6080 has stats not that different from yours and got accepted. Hard to know, but certainly you have a shot.
@tomcat39 hey me and you have pretty much the exact same stats! I’m still waiting to hear back as well. praying for us haha.
@tomcat39 @micky1120
I had a much much lower GPA and only 50 points higher on the SAT. I just got admitted 2 days ago, and I am pretty sure you guys will both get in no problem.
Accepted with:
89 GPA (not sure what that is on 4.0 scale) at very competitive public high school
i *
34 ACT
1990 SAT (not submitted)
2 sports, some volunteer work but not a lot, model UN, a couple of clubs
Spent a lot of time on both essays
I think I got good recommendations from teachers / counselor
Spent summers as golf caddy
Strengths: ACT, essays especially why Tulane
Weaknesses: GPA, extracurriculars
I also haven’t found out about potential merit scholarships yet, should I expect any significant amount?
Update: Got Distinguished Scholar, $27,000/year
@WAGolfGod theres gotta be a catch though, you must be extraordinary with something outside of school
@micky1120 good luck mate… They need some people who aren’t huge nerds
I applied in November with SCEA. I have a weighted GPA of 4.39 and unweighted is 3.86. I am an IB diploma bound student taking all IB classes and AP Calc AB/BC. My grades are mostly As and I have taken a couple APs as well. My extracurriculars are mostly community service and an internship with Johns Hopkins. Unfortunately I am definitely not a good standardized tester and I ended up with a 27 ACT, having to retake it in October after they lost my September one How do my chances look? I think I wrote a good optional Tulane essay and I have good recommendations. Will my ACT automatically get me rejected or do I have a chance? Do they look at certain parts of the ACT? I scored a 31 on the English… does this help? I also visited over the summer and emailed my admissions officer.
